    Using bottled water for everything

The place I live now is on a private well and the water is terrible. Its got a very high mineral content. Enough so that it stains surfaces red very quickly, and when I cleaned my 4 week old humidifier last night I found a large hand-full dime sized of brown metallic chips around the heating...

    Not complaining BUT . . .

That is exactly the problem. You are legal age and don't give a **** If it is legal or not for me to brew. You assume its not becuase the law doesn't affect you. I am not trying to make this personal (though it seems you are).

    Not complaining BUT . . .

I'm not trying to piss anyone off but nobody actually answered my question. A few people posted there opinions on what they think the law is but they didn't cite a source (Charlie Papazian doesn't count). The fact is that possession laws are not black and white, there are gray areas. I will...

    Underage consumption of homebrew legal?

I am trying to determine if it is in fact legal for a me (a minor) to brew and consume beer on private property (in this case my apartment). I know that in both MA (where I am from) and GA where I am living the laws are carefully structured so that when your underage idiot friend is about to...

    Second krausen after two weeks

Indeed.. We have been keeping the heat on in the house so that the beer stays around 75 degrees.. Temp shouldn't have changed. I am going to start taking hydrometer readings tomarrow. I should have done it from the start, oh well.

    Second krausen after two weeks

I was going to bottle my oatmeal stout today but last night a second krausen nearly the size if the first appeared. The first one formed during the first night and lasted for 3 days so I thought everything had gone to plan.. Anyone know what the deal with this is?

    First homebrew- 3 stage fermentation?

If I am not going to be clearing the beer in a secondary container should I still let it sit for another week or should I just prime/bottle when fermentation stops? (which I think has happened)

    First homebrew- 3 stage fermentation?

I'm doing the oatmeal stout recipe/kit from Midwest home brew supplies. So far everything has gone very well. However, I am a little confused as to why the instructions have me use a bucket as the primary fermentation vessel (1 week) then move to a carboy (1 week) and then add priming...
