    Broken bottom on corney

Same thing happened to one of my kegs. I just used duct tape and it's lasted for over 5 years now. I don't usually scrub down the outsides of my kegs between batches though. . .

    Any brew-software for Android?

Oh, using the menu button on the phone - that was piece I was missing. Thanks!:mug:

    Any brew-software for Android?

How exactly do you import recipes from BeerSmith to Brewzor Pro? I'm new to the android phone (I have the HTC Desire - if that's relevant).

    Supply store idea

If there are two separate home brewing organizations in your town than it sounds like opening a successful homebrew supply store could be very realistic. You will want to put together a business plan for sure and still do some market research. My husband put together a mock business plan for a...

    Adding up Gravity Numbers

I would add up all the gravity points that were consumed (66+20+32+18=136) then multiply by 0.131 (136*0.131=17.82%). And you have a 17.82% beer. I believe the 0.131 is the correct conversion factor. . .

When did you add the bananas?

    Gluten free "wit"

I'm glad you gave the recipe a try. Any ideas on how to make it better are welcome. The head retention thing is a challenge. . .

It's Official: I got the "it's an illness" speech

Whenever you run into someone who doesn't understand why you homebrew, tell them to read Fermenting Revolution (subtitled: How to Drink Beer and Save the World). In fact, all of you should read it too because it will give new meaning to the hobby you already love. It's an especially good read...

    My brewery plan..

Are you pumping hot water through the filter? You may want to check the filter to make sure it will work properly with near boiling water flowing through it. I would be inclined to filter the water going into the HLT.

    corn sugar or corn syrup?

I agree that corn sugar is better, but if you are in a pinch the corn syrup will work. I've used up to a pound of it in pale ales and IPAs without any discernable off taste. Of course, you can get away with a lot in those styles because the hops can cover it up. I would suggest not altering...

    the importance of notes

That should be perfect for you. Just remember to get a folder or binder to keep the sheets together.

Here are a few of sites you should look at: Site 1, Site 2, Site 3 I thought I heard somewhere that using it as the majority of your grain bill can lead to some "undesirable" flavors. Having never tried it myself, I don't really know what "undesirable" means. But the nutty, wheatlike...

Do you guys know what styles are you going to attempt? If this stout goes well, I think I'll try for a saison next.

Alright, experiment #1 is bubbling away. This recipe was given to me by one of the employees at Northern Brewer. I changed up a few things and I'm really happy with the wort results. I added the dark candi sugar to help obtain the black color. The roasted quinoa did add some color, but...

Yeah, I'd much rather someone else do the malting for me. With all the commercial sorghum beers becoming available now, obviously someone is malting the grain for these breweries. They just need to start selling to the retail brew shops.

These recipes are awesome, the only problem is that I don't know any place that sells malted sorghum or buckwheat. If I had access to these ingredients I would be much farther along in my experiments.

I avoid the yeast issue all together by using only dry yeast in my GF beers. Just a side note about gluten being everywhere - the #1 ingredient that you need to watch out for is "Food Starch Modified." Unless it says "(corn)" right after it, you have no idea where that starch came from and...

This is awesome to see you guys are up for this challenge :rockin: In about a month I'm going to try a GF pumpkin ale side by side with a regular pumpkin ale. I've already put together a recipe that should be pretty good. I'm hoping that the pumpkin will add the ever elusive mouthfeel to the...
