I haven't brewed with chilis, but I'll tell you, you can't grill a habenero...tried it once and there's not enough flesh. Maybe smoking it would work, but on the grill, i just got a useless burnt pepper

It's mostly in the yeast selection and grain bill. You can use American hops (won't be 'to style'), but you would want some earthy or danky hops in there...definitely a subdued hop profile
And those aren't american pale ale hops. Is this a published clone, or are you trying to clone a beer yourself?

i brewed up a session pale ale for a comp they were going to have last year, then they just took it off their website a week before & cancelled it! this seems tough..unless you have a 6 pk of RIS sitting around, are willing to give a 6 pk away, and will pay 12 bucks to enter...they could make...
