    Remember your first ever IPA?

I don't remember my first ipa, but I do remember my first SNPA and thinking why would anyone want to drink a bitter beer? Now I'm always on the hunt for the biggest, baddest IPA's and iipa's out there

    Yeast for bottling RIS

When I bottled my 11% RIS, I sprinkled half a pack of champagne yeast in the bottling bucket with the priming sugar. 3 weeks at 70* and it was carbed to perfection

    drunken national homebrew day beer

So, for national homebrew day, our club had a big brew day at a local microbrew pub. The head brewer supplied us with 1.053 2-row starter wort. I started with about 6.5-7 gallons. The wort came out hot, so once it hit 160, i dropped the grain bag with 1lb honey malt and 3/4lb carapils as well...

Gift for my wife for first born

At the risk of being cliche, I stayed away from birthstone and opted for "mother" of pearl earrings. She got the connection right away (and liked that I thought outside the box). I got her nice ones from David Yerman, though they could have had for much less if they weren't name brand

Pliny the Elder available near CT?

Philly gets Pliny on a pretty regular basis, they don't send bottles over the Rockies, draft only. They also get most of the sours, as well as younger and blind blind pig kegs as well. Hope this helps OP, come on down for Philly beer week, you won't be disappointed

    Honey IIPA critique

no worries, thanks for the reply. im shooting for a hopslamish ipa. i figured id use the honey at the end of the boil to help dry out the beer since ill be using the dme and honey malt. still pretty new to all this, can the the vienna or munich be steeped? we wont be mashing since the brewery...

    Honey IIPA critique

I guess I could have been a bit more specific. Iron Hill Brewery is supplying us with 1.050 wort from 2 Row. My OG should be just under 1.100 with the 1.5lbs of honey and DME

    Honey IIPA critique

Hey guys, I'm brewing with my club in my first Big Brew Day and was wondering if you could take a peak at my recipe and tell me what you think. We start with 1.050 wort then go from there. 6gal 1.050 wort 1lb honey malt (steep) 3/4lb carapils (steep) 3lb light DME 10 min 24oz local honey...

    Porch rocker clone

I've read about adding one pack of unsweetened lemon koolade packet per gallon to your priming solution. I plan in doing this for a half batch of citra pale ale to be ready to drink by the pool during the summer.

    Harvesting dregs

Spit looks like the only thing other than water, malt, sugar and hops in the Malto is phosphoric acid. Could that be the culprit? I thought I read online somewhere about a guy keeping dregs saved in the fridge? Think these dregs are shot and I should toss them or keep them around til I'm ready...

    Harvesting dregs

I've been drinking plenty of sours lately and with the thought of possibly brewing one in the future, I've been saving the dregs (Cantillon, JP, Cascade, Orval, Bruery, Crooked Stave, Fantome as well as a bunch of local stuff). I made a 1.030 starter wort with some Malto Goya (haven't been...

where to store my conditioning bottles??

I too keep my house around 62*. I picked an upstairs bedroom we don't use, shut all vents but one. Over the one vent, I put a cookie cooling rack over the vent. On top of the rack I put a big Rubbermaid tote lined with a blanket and put the bottles in the tote covered. Once or twice a day I...
