    Georgia Wife-approved kegerator/bar, 4 Perlick 525s, 13 kegs, 2 25lb CO2, dual regulator

.... and thank you all for the kind words on the build. I got most my ideas from HBT.

    Georgia Wife-approved kegerator/bar, 4 Perlick 525s, 13 kegs, 2 25lb CO2, dual regulator

Yeah, yeah, yeah....:) This was quite a step up from them all sitting on the top of the fridge though. We tended to go through our inventory quickly enough before any temp damage could take it's toll.

    Georgia Wife-approved kegerator/bar, 4 Perlick 525s, 13 kegs, 2 25lb CO2, dual regulator

Yes, sold pending pickup. Like I said, wife and I (and our now 4-year old son) just don't party like we used to. My boy has helped me during brew days though. Having 15 gals of homebrew and 5 gal of 11% abv apfelwein staring at you every evening gets dangerous though. Man, if this thing...

    2013 Chinook harvest

Maybe it's the variety.... My Willamette's never grow taller than 4 to 6'. The Nugget I have is in a 5-gallon bucket, so I can't compare it to a plant in the ground. My Zeus is ready to pick too now; she's about 30' tall, much taller than any other variety I grow. The Magnum I have has full...

    2013 Chinook harvest

Here's my 3 year old Chinook. Year after year, she gives me 2 harvests... one in September, the other in May/June. Here are some pics of harvest numero uno for this year taken today... 1 lb 1 oz wet. Oh, and 100% organic! More empty than full kegs nowadays, I think I'll make a "wet hopped"...

Short's Brew Pandemonium - what yeast strain?

must not be a real popular brew...... I'm saving it anyway!

Short's Brew Pandemonium - what yeast strain?

I'm a Georgia boy who picked up a 6'er of this whilst in Michigan a few weeks ago, and was wondering what yeast these guys used. I was going to add the dregs in the bottle to a yeast starter and add this strain to my yeast collection. I searched, and all the recipes I found for clones use...

Anyone else harvesting yet? (May 2012)

I've killed 2 Willamettes.... last year. Bought another one this year and hoping for the best. Maybe they don't like the heat?

Anyone else harvesting yet? (May 2012)

Due to our exceptionally mild winter here in ATL, my 2nd year Centennial [EDIT: Chinook] has taken off and is days away from its first harvest. Cones aren't quite there yet, but very close! I had sticky fingers after plucking it! Anyone else? Texas guys? PS - my other hops (other than Zeus)...

    Craigslist Free Section

I got a riding mower, which I fixed up and gave to my father in law. First couch and loveseat in our new house I also got from the "Free" list, but that was 8 years ago, so it wasn't as popular. Also picked up a Weber charcoal grill and a big stainless gas grill, both free, and both I still...

    Coed Baby Showers.

Ugh... we're leaving in a few minutes for a co-ed shower. Luckily, I'm bringing some brews. The worst is when you're "hosting" the shower with 2-3 other couples, which ends up costing $150-200 per couple, and you still have to buy a present for the shower. So, $300-$400 a pop. To top it off, I...

    My swmbo cares.

"Smoked porter" - My wife's favorite also (and family's too). She helped formulate a recipe for a batch while she was pregnant so it'd be ready when she could drink again. Just made another batch yesterday and threw in some oatmeal. She helped out a little during brew day.

    Anchoring Hop Twine

Bob - My raised beds sit on top of tilled ground, so they can grow as deep as they want. Plants that spread like hops do (rhizomes) usually stay near the surface, which makes sprouting easier. My boxes are only 6" high. Keeps the hops from spreading (so far), and keeps the mulch from flying away.

    Anchoring Hop Twine

I grow in wooden raised beds. I have an eye bolt screwed into the top.

    CTZ question

I'd like to! Just found Columbus rhizomes this year for sale.... Unfortunately I ordered 5 more varieties last month, and really don't have room for them yet (they're in 5-gal buckets for now). My 2 big hobbies are brewing and gardening - they both overlap with hops growing, so I tend to...

    CTZ question

My Zeus has reddish bines, whereas I heard that Columbus keeps them green, so you could grown them close together I suppose. My Zeus though is the most vigorous of the 7 varieties I grow, so maybe give them a little room.

Hop Trellis & Different Species Questions

One variety - I agree. It should look something like this, this summer: http://www.homesteadingtoday.com/4491007-post10.html I use cattle panel arbors for gardening. They're quick, easy, and cheap.
