    Did yeast starter start?

Specific gravity is 1.050 and the taste is, well, yeasty to say the least. But it's not very sweet.

    Did yeast starter start?

i thought of that, but i didn't take an initial measurement. Can you still find out if it fermented anything?

    Did yeast starter start?

I bought a beer kit for Christmas and just opened it this week. I didn't know that it came with liquid yeast that needs to be refridgerated. It probably hasn't gotten any higher than 70 degrees in my house, so i'm not sure if it's any good still. To make sure it was still good, i made a...

    Top Ten Best Beer Names

What's funny is the guy who wrote the article, Joe Redner, owns multiple strip clubs in the Tampa area. I didn't know he wrote for an online newspaper.

    What's your favorite beer??

Right now, my favorite is Sam Adams Winter Lager. Not sure why, but it is just so damn tasty. Maybe because AmberBock used to be my favorite beer and this is what AmberBock should taste like.

    Mixing yeasts

Yeah i was just thinking of brewing an IPA with a little bit of Belgian yeast flavor, just for experimenting. Maybe i could just use a low powered beglgian yeast.

    Mixing yeasts

Is it possible to put 2 or more different kinds of yeast in one batch of beer? I would assume you could, but I don't know if they would battle against each other or produce some funky byproduct.

    Beer packaging for air travel

Put socks over the bottles like a golf club cover, then wrap them in bubblewrap. Good to go. You may go over the 50lb limit though. Mine was 48.5 lbs with 6 days of clothes and 2 six packs.

    GABF Winners

Our local brewpub won 2 medals, Thunder Canyon Brewery in Tucson. One for their Doble Diablo, basically it's a dopplebock. They call it a lager with double the ingredients. The other medal was for their Amber Lager. This place makes some great beers. Their IPA is delicious as well. Good thing...

    Erlenmeyer Flask???

Homebrew store had them. All different sizes, even a 2L. That thing was huge. Can't believe I didn't think of the brew store for brewing supplies. DOH

    Erlenmeyer Flask???

Oh yeah, local home brew store. Forgot about that one. Thanks mang.

    Erlenmeyer Flask???

Does anyone know of a store that sells Erlenmeyer flasks? I can't find any. I know I can order online, but I'd like to brew this week sometime.

    Brew lager as ale

I really want to brew a bock similar to Sam Adams Winter Lager, but i don't have the equipment to lager. What happens if you don't lager a lager?

Doh! I bought a lager kit by mistake!

Definately don't ferment at 74. My first beer I made was an Oktoberfest and I brewed it around that temperature. It tasted funky like an Oktoberfest Belgian ale or something.

    Polygamy Porter

The best part of that brewery is their slogan, "Bring some home for the wives". I love that line.

Is your town a beer town?

I like to think of a beer town as a town that has easily accessible decent-to-good beer. I think Tucson, AZ fits the bill. Every restaraunt I go to, even Applebee's and Chili's, has at least one microbrew or seasonal Sam Adams on tap. Plus there are 4 or so MicroBrew restaraunt/pub places in...

    Heresy!!!!

I can't do it. The only light beer I can drink is Sam Adams Light, but it really isn't a light. They just have no flavor. It's like drinking beer flavored water. If I'm in the mood for a light beer I ususally go for Budweiser or Molson Canadian.

    belgium wit question

I made a Summer Adams Summer Ale clone and kept it in the primary for 10 days and then bottled. I took one bottle out after a week and it was carbed and tasted pretty damn good. Very drinkable after a week of carbing. After 3 weeks, man this is good stuff.
