    Mexican Chocolate Stout Recipe Feedback

Any suggestions on what would provide some heat? I'm aiming for a kick that hits at the back of the throat at the very end - not intense front of the mouth heat a la buffalo wings or indian food. Basically dark chocolate with chili, like mi abuelita's hot chocolate, except in beer form.

    Mexican Chocolate Stout Recipe Feedback

Whoa! I am way late on replying to this. I must have missed the question - I can't find my notes from this brew but I remember it turned out well in terms of overall flavoring. The only thing was the spicy notes didn't come out quite as strongly as I'd hoped. I saw this post because I'm...

    Maltodextrin

Thanks Josh. My predicted FG is 1.017 and the yeast I'm using is the White Labs Irish Ale. Would you suggest using a different yeast or do you think I could get away without using the maltodextrine given the higher expected fg? (btw, these calcs are from the brewmasterswarehouse brew builder...

    Maltodextrin

Hey guys, I have a stout recipe that calls for the addition of malto-dextrin. I've never used it before and not sure when it needs to be added? I don't even know if this is a powder or a liquid? I've gathered that it's used to add some body to the beer - I was going to use 0.25lb of it...

    Mexican Chocolate Stout Recipe Feedback

thanks for the quick response! I usually don't do a secondary anymore, i typically just leave it in the primary fermenter for a couple of weeks then bottle - is it ok to add all of the spices and the cocoa into that mixture say halfway through fermentation? and when i add all of it - is the...

    Mexican Chocolate Stout Recipe Feedback

Hey all, I put together a recipe for a spicy chocolate stout (extract) and wanted to get your feedback on the flavor profile - I've never used cayenne or vanilla bean in my brews before so I'm not sure what to expect. In terms of spiciness I wanted something along the lines more of...

    Christmas Ale Recipe Advice

Hello, I found the bellow recipe online but I'd like to tweak it a little bit. First I'm a little hesitant about the vanilla and the orange peel (haven't worked with either yet). I think the orange peel is pretty straight forward but i want to stay away from the vanilla - looking for some...

Extract w/ Mini Mash Recipe Feedback

Thanks for the feedback! So, I actually have another pot that is about the same size. Could I boil 1-1.5 gallons in separately from the mashed wort and pour the bulk of my extract in there and leave it there for about 10 minutes and pour a little bit of the extract into the main brew kettle...

Extract w/ Mini Mash Recipe Feedback

Hello, I'm fairly new to brewing. So far I've only brewed a double chocolate stout and a ginger spiced ipa - both of which were extract and steeping specialty grains. This time I thought i'd venture out a bit more and try out a mini mash. I've put together this recipe that started out as a...
