want to start keggin my beer

OP - I just bought a kit online at adventures in home brewing. Otherwise I would have bought a kit on Craigslist. There's one in the Charleston area for $150 that I would have gotten if I hadn't already ordered mine. Not sure how close you are to charleston. Online kit cane with one ball lock...

    WTB Bottle Shipper

I'd be interested as well. If it's already taken, where did you get it?

Cheap & Easy 10 Gallon Rubbermaid MLT Conversion

Has anyone used this MT for 3 gallon batches? Obviously the grain would fit but how bad is efficiency?

    My minimalist E-build

It's been awhile since I've updated, things have been hectic with the new baby and all. I've gotten some work done on the build though: Finished my temperature controller today. I went with the DIY Temp controller build as I already had a thermostat laying around. It has some unfortunate...

    Another Water Report Opinion Request

That's pretty much my plan, though I need to get some chemicals. I didn't have too much trouble, I live on base so I had to make a few calls to figure out who actually supplies our water, but once I figured that out (Sante Cooper) I just had to call them. And yes...my wife and I both hate...

Making my Magic Chef mini fridge hole-y

I have a Magic Chef MCBR440 (I think it's an older model of the 445). From everything I've seen Magic Chef minifridges seem to only have cooling lines in the freezer shelf. Has anyone seen otherwise? I'm hoping to drill two holes through the side of the fridge to run lines for a radiator...

    Another Water Report Opinion Request

Here are the relevant values they sent me: Calcium: 8.04 Magnesium: 3 Alkalinity (as CaCO3): 20 Sodium: 15 Chloride: 17 Sulfate: 22 pH: 7.71 So there are a few differences, though pretty similar overall.

    Another Water Report Opinion Request

Pistols, I got an email from Santee Cooper (the water supplier) with their findings and it's different from the above. Maybe charleston has a different water supplier than goose creek? I'll post what I found when I get home.

    Decisions... keg or another batch?

Keg. I'm in a similar situation, and I would love to have a keg...plus once you have the set up it's a lot cheaper, you just have to get the kegs...

    Moving to Electric

I would check out the BCS-460 too as an alternative to PIDs. It costs more but is really expandable and just plain cool. Just a thought.

Bananas Foster Creamy Ale (All Grain) **pic intensive**

This is what I'll be using. Wait til they blacken (storing them in brown paper bags will quicken this process), freeze them, when ready to use just break the end off and pour the banana goop out (my favorite part of making banana bread). Blend with the rum, which you could probably do with a...

How do you guys move your carboys around?

The way my rope hauler is tied there is no way for it to slip off. It's not just around the Carboy, but underneath it too.

Had this same problem, I overloaded the nipple with teflon tape and tightened it down as much as I could, no longer had a leak.

How do you guys move your carboys around?

I followed this thread: Rope Hauler It was pretty easy, just took a little time and patience. I recommend finding where he posted the pictures, he mentions it somewhere in the thread. Bought the rope for maybe 10 bucks and it'll easily make three or four.

How do you guys move your carboys around?

Here's a pic of my rope hauler. Works just like the brew haulers.

How do you guys move your carboys around?

I use a rope hauler from a DIY I found on here. I'd link it but I'm on my phone. Doesn't help with weight but it's a lot less awkward.

    Where to find kegs?

Be been checking Craigslist religiously, contacted some local breweries, etc, still no luck. I don't want to put a deposit down and keep the keg, so where else should I look? Thanks for the advice!
