Heady Topper- Can you clone it?

Just read that the new issue of BYO (October 2013) has a HT clone recipe as well as some Hill Farmstead recipes. Anyone know if it's the same as already published in the earlier issue?

I won't sweat it then! Thanks! Mainly concerned about flavor. :)

NB 5 gallon cooler mash tun - plastic smell?

Hey everyone, I just got my Northern Brewer 5 gallon Rubbermaid cooler mash tun, and am planning on using for the first time this weekend...it has a pretty strong plastic smell though, even after I've rinsed it a couple times with star san and hot water. Is this something that I should worry...

Changing my process, how does this sound?

What you are doing will definitely work, but you're kind of unnecessarily complicating the process. You can do full volume 3 gallon batches in the single 7.5 gallon pot. The cooler is unnecessary. Thanks so much everyone for the replies! :) I was just a little worried about mashing in...

Changing my process, how does this sound?

Hey all - I have been all grain brewing small 1 gallon batches for over a year and now want to step up to 3 gallons. I'm very happy with the beer I've made recently, so I'd like to keep the process as close as possible to what I've done in the past (the process is from the book Beer Craft if...

Stout 1 gallon recipe from "BeerCraft" book

Thank you! I'm going to cut the 60 minute hops to something closer to Jamil's stout recipe (his og is close to this recipe).

Stout 1 gallon recipe from "BeerCraft" book

20 grams is about 3/4 of an oz, correct? So in a 5 gallon batch that would equal 3.5 oz of bittering hops - or am I missing something?? Thanks for your help!

Stout 1 gallon recipe from "BeerCraft" book

Hello, I'm brewing the one gallon all grain recipe from the great "BeerCraft" book tomorrow, and everything seems fine (I've put the numbers into Beer Calculus), except the amount of bittering hops. The recipe calls for 20 grams of 9.5AA Target hops at 60 minutes. This calculates to about 144...

About to dry hop - contamination?

Hello, I'm planning on dry hopping my IPA in a couple days, and will be using the remainder of the hops I used for my boil (so I've touched them, probably before my hands were sanitized). They've since (about a week) been in the freezer. Is it possible they may contaminate my beer? Thanks!

    Quick question about water sterilization

Wow, Revvy, thanks for the info! I will still filter the water with the Brita for taste. My tap water is a little nasty.

    Quick question about water sterilization

I'm brewing Sunday and am planning on using water filtered through my Brita pitcher and then boiled to be safe - this is obviously going to take awhile to get my needed (at least) 5 gallons. My question is: If I filter and boil my top off water tomorrow night (Friday) and let it sit in my...

    Great Divide recipes?

So, I bought a Great Divide variety case and am loving every bit of it. I'd really like to brew a clone recipe of just about any of the beers (mainly the Titan IPA, Denver Pale Ale, or Belgica), but haven't had any luck finding one. Anyone know of any extract recipes similar to any of these...

    Opening Day beer?

So, my favorite sport - baseball - starts in a little over 2 months, so I want to have a tasty homebrew ready. I've only made one batch so far (which I'm drinking now) - the IPA kit from Brewer's Best. I need some recommendations. I love all IPA beers (especially Dogfish Head), but are the 60...
