    Citra&Mosaic Session Ale Critique

That's malted wheat, good point. I actually did something and reduced the caramel malts and melanoidin each by 1%, maybe 10% of wheat malt in the grist work? Im still thinking if there's too much hops, really don't want any harsh, green, vegetal flavors?

    Citra&Mosaic Session Ale Critique

Yes, ebc is about double L. Cara100 is just the product name, it's very similar than any of Cara40-60L. Don't necessary want sweet caramel taste, but really need the body for this to carry all the hops, Cara-Pale is somewhat similar to mixture of carapils and cara10.

    Citra&Mosaic Session Ale Critique

I've been working with this recipe for a while and need some critique for it. The object is to brew 4,5-4,7% abv pale-ale with lots of tropical fruits, fructose and citrus aroma, being still balanced and easy to drink. Waterprofile: Ca: 75, Mg: 5, SO4: 80, Cl: 30, Na: 10, CaCO3: 20...

All my IPAs taste the same

I don't use any sort of bags. I have tried both; dryhopping to secondary and primary, only difference was that the beer was a bit more cloudier after just primary. I always screen those hops solids out after chilling (except my first batch years ago).

All my IPAs taste the same

Sure, I just checked my lists. Untill today I have sampled 43 American Pale Ales, 41 Double IPA:s, 29 Black IPA:s and 92 IPA:s. Best regular IPA have been: Port Brewing Wipeout, Nøgne Ø IPA, Oakham Green Devil, Alesmith IPA and Stone IPA. I also drinked commercial IPA few days ago (Punk IPA...

All my IPAs taste the same

First: I did'it after the fermentation was over (why on earth I'd do it during the active fermentation? Never). -> The idea was to dryhop it twice, so that I can get rid of the trub in the bottom of fermenter before adding more dryhops. Oh and the batch size was 3 gallons. I have tried varying...

All my IPAs taste the same

Ok. So I tried this with my recent IPA...and..no. OG 1.070 - 1.014. I used Magnum for bittering (50ebu) and tried the hopstand method also. While fermenting there were, yet again, huge tropical fruit and citrus aromas escaping from the airlock. I added huge amount of dryhops twice, 2oz for...

All my IPAs taste the same

That might be solution to try, but really don't know how it's done. I mean, what kind of equipment do I need for it and what kind of procedure is it step by step?

All my IPAs taste the same

jabergess: I just wanted to say, that You are not alone with this problem.. Most of my IPA:s taste the same and yes it's very frustrating. I have a feeling that the problem, for me, might be water ph, so I also bought ph meter. I also think it might be the amount of hops-> not enough. Still few...

Converting my Imperial Stout recipe to Imperial Milk Stout recipe

Hi. Im trying to convert my own Imperial Stout recipe to Imperial Milk Stout recipe (Im going to add some rally good coffee to it and maybe some cocoa powder also). I've: reduced the amount of roasted grains, the amount of hops and added some flaked oats to it. It's going to be big, massive and...

Any input for my Citra & Galaxy IPA recipe

Yep, 2,5 gallons (another stovetop brewer..) I took 2-3gm away per hop addition and the fwh and added a bit more magnum. For the dryhops, it's now something like 4gm/l.

Any input for my Citra & Galaxy IPA recipe

Any input for my Citra & Galaxy IPA recipe

Hi. Any feedback, advices or comments for my recipe. Im aming at huge tropical fruit flavors, but no harsh, or vegetal flavors that have been in my recent IPA:s. Batch size: 10l/2,64 gallons, pre boil volume: 4,5 gallons. OG 1.062, FG 1.013 Grains: 79% Pale Ale malt 6,5% Münich malt...

    Tropical IPA hop schedule

Wow.. Got to think a moment, I brewed this beer two years ago. Now I'd use only Riwaka with Amarillo, or Nelson. Yes the beer was good and it had very nice tropical/grapefruit aroma. But.. Nelson slightly dominated over the other hops and overall it was a waste of good aroma hops.

    My American wheat recipe critique

Depends where I buy them, but around 8-9€/100gm-> 10,5-12$ per 100gm (3,53oz). Bigger hop bags are of course slightly cheaper.

    My American wheat recipe critique

Many thanks. I made small changes to malt bill: 49% Pale Ale, 48% Wheat, 3% Oats (Flaked) -> just love that creamy and oily mouthfeel. I also changed the hops for a bit: 60min: 15ibu from Magnum 10min: 1,2gm/l Simcoe 0min/Whirlpool: 1,5gm/l Citra and 2gm/l Amarillo Dry hops: 1gm/l Citra and...

Hi from Finland. The correct juniper is Juniperus Communis. The most common is called "jätkähiiva" or "pullahiiva". It looks like this: http://www03.edu.fi/oppimateriaalit/hygieniaosaaminen/hiivat1.htm (the top picture) U can find it in every grocery store. But.. I have a feeling, that...
