That's good to hear that it's holding up. The hinges on the chest freezers are way overrated then because the lid probably only weights 8-10 lbs total and now they are supporting at least 60 lbs.

Is there a gap between the outer skin of the freezer and the inside of the cabinet? Yes, there is definetely space, infact, there is a good inch or so on either side including the front. This is and was not designed for cooling purposes. My Westinghouse chest freezer has its compressor...
