    PID wiring question

I have a Sestos D1S-VR PID. My thermocouples are K-type, and my question is simply....do the two thermocouple wires got to terminals 3 and 4? Does it matter which wire goes where? The wife wants this off the dining room table tonight because she's having a baby shower here Saturday. Messed up...

    Fail.

Well, my first attempt at making my PWM resulted in releasing the magic smoke from the IC. We all know that once the smoke is out it's all over so it'll be off to RS from another one tomorrow for attempt number two.

Juat when you thought they'd all been answered, another wiring question.

Sorry, but I didn't really find my answer with a search,in fact, I now have a new question. The wires to my three prong dryer outlets for my elements should be HOT, HOT and Ground? Not HOT, HOT and Neutral? Same for my 220V pump? And for all 3 I break one of the HOTs with my SSR? Ok, so I...

Finally going to start making something from all these parts!

I think I have everything I need to put the brewery together, and planning to start this weekend....even though Christmas will be a bit in the way of that. I do have a question for those with herms setups though...I have my copper coil running through a bucket that maybe holds two gallons, the...

    Can I do this?

I'm planning to use my one PID for the HLT and the eHerms...I assume I switch the SSR controlling 12v to whichever container I want to heat/monitor, also switching the thermocouple of course. My question is, can I also add a pilot light to that control circuit so I can tell when the SSR is...

All the major parts finally on the way

My eHerms setup recently made it to the front burner and took priority over my other projects. IN the past month it went from a bare stand and some 15 gallon stainless containers to a completed Igloo cooler MLT, a 5500 watt MLT with a DIY sight glass, a stand with a water filter setup, a 1500...

    Question about contactors

Is this Contactors | Contactors | Contactor - 2 Pole 30 Amps 120 Coil Voltage | B238482 - GlobalIndustrial.com a good contactor to use to switch the power to my elements? I thought about using 24v coil models, but that isnt enough power for the PID is it? This is what I'm working on... I need...

    With some luck...

I should be ready to run the eHerms system Sunday afternoon. I'd like to be ready earlier, but with family coming today and a second T-day dinner on Saturday, there won't be much time for tinkering. I have my stand, my MLT, water-filtering filling system, heater elements, PID, SSR, spa panel...

Pleasant surprise tonight... and a question.

My temp controller and SSR were on my porch at 10 pm tonight!!! I didn't expect them for a week or two yet, so I'm excited. However, I now have a question, which is simply, do I HAVE to use a contactor? This controller/ssr will control a 1500 watt element. The SSR is a 25 amp. Speaking of...

    Using home-grown whole leaf hops

I have a bunch of home-grown Cascade hops in my freezer, where they have been for two or three years. Should I use them? How do I know how much to use if I attempt it?

    Getting there

I am slowly accumulating the pieces needed to brew electrically. I am waiting for delivery of a PID and SSR, ordered a couple of weeks ago and a 10 foot 4 prong dryer cord ordered moments ago. I have recently purchased a 5500 watt 240 volt stainless steel element for the BK, and a steel beverage...

My "maybe a year or so old beer" isn't...

I got curious if I could figure out when I brewed the batch that's been sitting in a carboy in the basement for " a year or so...maybe two" and did a search to see if I mentioned brewing it. I knew that might be a possibility because I posted quite a bit when I was using the name Gonefishing. I...

Does this look ok, and like it would be done quickly?

    Motorizied my pasta mill

Bought a screwdriver with the right sized shank last night ($4.74) and cut and broke the handle off it tonight. Chucked it up in the drill and WHOOSH...sucked a handful of two-row though there like it was turbo charged! I think I'm gonna like this...the hand crank was pretty tiring. A couple of...

    Wiring questions

My house has a 30 amp dryer circuit but I want to use a spa panel with a 50 amp GFI in the circuit. What I'd like to do is run a 10-3 w/ground from the fuse box to a 4 prong dryer outlet near my brewery and mount the spa panel on the brewstand or in the control box. Power to the spa panel and...

    Pasta mill question

For those who turned a pasta maker into a grain mill, has anyone cut the handle off and used it to power the mill? I'd like to motorize this thing but don't want to ruin the handle unless I know it will work with a drill and I won't need the ability to hand crank it.

    Temporary bummer

Building my CFC and I need one 3 inch long piece of 1/2" copper tubing..and I really don't want to go buy a piece of tubing to get it. Really wanted it done today.

One more piece of the setup...

I bought a whole house water filter housing and charcoal cartridges today. No more trips to the store for bottled water. Of course, it will take about five 5-gallon batches before it starts saving money, but it's worth it to me to never have to think about buying brew water again. I'm going to...

Will this PID be ok for HERMS?

Let me start by saying that I have just about the world's smallest "toy" budget, so I have to build my brew system on the cheap. It looks to me that I can build a HERMS for less money I could a RIMS. Either will need a pid...does anyone have any experience with this one, or can offer advice on...

Do you use a 25 foot CFC?

Could someone who uses one of these please tell me the temperature of the water leaving the cooler? Thanks a bunch!
