Bought cider that was already fermenting

To answer Joes first question, my last batch ended up below 1.00 (it was at 1.00 then i let it sit for 2 weeks so i dont know the FG, I just know it was done). It tastes like a very drinkable white wine with a tart apple after taste. Everyone who tries it says it will be better when its carbed...

Bought cider that was already fermenting

So I recently made my first hard cider.:rockin: It was very good but i wanted a sweet cider and it fermented out very dry. I wanted to retry so I bought a single gallon of the same cider from a local orchard. It is late in the season so i think that the gallon i bought had been sitting in the...

Topping off JAOM with a dry wine?

"The other really easy thing to do would be to rack it into a sterilized 3 liter wine bottle" I never thought of doing that, its too late now but thanks for the tip I will keep that in mind for future brews!:mug:

    Brewers Best Kolsch

I just bought this kit today, I was pretty pissed when i realized that they gave me notty. Never brewed a kolsch before and want to get as close as possible to the real thing. Another trip to the not-so-local homebrew shop

Topping off JAOM with a dry wine?

Thanks for the quick reply! I'm not too worried about this one being a "classic" JAOM. I have already racked it when it says not to, so I'm going to add the wine. I think i will take your advice and enjoy this one for what it is and make another batch following the instructions so i have a...

Hello from salt lake city...jack mormon here.u

Hello, I am a new here as well, and not very experienced either. I have done three batches of extract beer and i am currently making a mead and a cider. I use the kits that they sell at my LHBS (Local Home Brew Shop). These kits are very easy, they make 5 gallon batches (a little over 50 12 oz...

Topping off JAOM with a dry wine?

I made my first batch of mead, a gallon batch of JAOM and after two months racked it into a secondary (which the recipe says not to do, but i did anyway). After taking a few taste tests and racking there is barely 3/4 a gallon left.I am worried about the headspace and I know that JAOM tends to...

    Carboy vs. Bottle Conditioning

My only worry would be about getting an off taste from the lees. I've heard aging in bulk is better but as long as its done fermenting you could bottle.
