    Set and Forget question

If I do the set and forget method of carbonation for my Corny, does it have to be at room temperature? I've read that the cold slows down the process, however my gas lines are inside kegerator and would be a pain in the arse to remove.

    Oxygen in the keg

it was a 4 gallon batch

Aging Beer in the keg vs the bottle

No from what I read only certain people had to do that when they had leak issues. My corny seemed to seal pretty tightly when I closed it. Do I need to do that (next time)? You just hook it up to the CO2, blast it with 30psi, then unhook it?

    Oxygen in the keg

no I siphoned it in carefully.

Aging Beer in the keg vs the bottle

Thats what I thought but after 10 days my beer came out flat. I used 5oz of sugar too and was just going to bleed the keg and let it sit to fix any issues.

Aging Beer in the keg vs the bottle

To add to my post above...I guess what I'm thinking is if I put 5oz of priming sugar into my corny keg with my batch, the keg will need 2-3 weeks to condition (similar to bottling). Then I need to hook it up to the kegerator, and using the set and forget method, it may take another 3 weeks to...

Aging Beer in the keg vs the bottle

Hm. Maybe this applies to me. I brewed an IPA, left it in primary for 3 weeks, stuck it into the keg for 10 days or so with priming sugar and then hooked it up to the kegerator. It tasted flat at first but over the last few weeks has been getting carbed up however I can't taste much hops and...

    Oxygen in the keg

I didn't bleed out the excess oxygen when I poured my batch into the keg and sealed it. What effect does oxygenation have on the beer and its taste? Its taken almost a month to get properly carbed and I can really taste straight alchohol. (Could be multiple factors I'm sure)

Should I use a Hydrometer Now?

I use a wine thief. However my hydrometer never floats freely when I drop it in there...it always rests against the side..what gives?

    Beer line extenders??

I want to extend my beer line. Is there such thing as an adapter that can connect two beer lines to create a longer one? Or do I need to take the 5 foot line out and just replace it with a 7 foot line. Thanks.

    What does this mean?

That could be it. My tower is insulated with some foam and thats it. I doubt enough cold air gets from the fridge into the tower chamber. My beer lines are also unorganized so I'll look into making sure they spiral up and have no kinks. Thanks.

    What does this mean?

I've come to realize that its always the first beer that has lots of foam. So if I have 3 friends over, the first guy gets a lot of foam while the other 2 get great pours. this isn't too bad if you have people over, but when its only me drinking a beer every 20 minutes or so, I'm always...

    What does this mean?

CO2 set at 12 PSI. One gas line goes to the manifold which splits it to two lines. Beer line is approximately 5-6 feet (came standard with the kegerator). I'm not sure of the temp Sam Adams is at. I had picked it up at the store which keeps it in the freezer room. I'd imagine its around 42...

    What does this mean?

So I just tapped my first keg of homebrew. I also purchased a keg of Sam Adams. I hooked them both up to the kegerator. The Sam Adams was already cold since I purchased it from the store. My homebrew I added 5oz to 4 gallons of beer last week. I let it sit for about 10 days. I purged out...

    Priming a Keg for carbing

I just finished an IPA that turned out to be 4 gallons instead of 5. I used the entire 5oz pack of sugar to prime in the keg. Its been sitting for a week. I plan on hooking it up to the kegerator, purging a bit, then tasting to see if it needs to de-carb more or not. I did this on advice...

    Varying temperatures for keg

So my kegerator is broken and I'm having a new one shipped out to me in 7-14 days. In the meantime, I have two kegs in there that I need to store somewhere. I don't have space in the fridge so is it better to leave them in the basement where its about 70 degrees for a while or put them outside...

Kegerator leak - not gas - plz help

I checked this morning and the drip in the front right seems to be coming from a screw and rubber bumper in the base of the kegerator. This leak is happening in all 4 corners too. I plan on calling the manufacturer today but if you know of anything plz let me know! Thanks.

Kegerator leak - not gas - plz help

So I purchased a dual tap Edgestar kegerator last week. Hooked it up with an IPA and a cider and its been going great for a week. This afternoon I found a yellow substance all over the carpet in front of the front right wheel. I cleaned it up thinking the dog peed there however it didn't...

Another of my lame carbonation threads!

+1 to Yoop. That explanation helped. I just bought a dual tap kegerator last week and have been struggling to grasp CO2, volumes of CO2, PSI, head space, etc. I was hoping you could just hook it up and go. I got a lot to learn.
