    bottling methods

How do you carbonate beers in a bottle WITHOUT priming sugar? I know it can be done, because most commercial breweries do it. Do you just bottle from a keg?

    My Beer Tastes Watery

I'm very new to all-grain brewing. I have brewed 3 batches, a brown, a pale and a rye amber (which has yet to be bottled). Here's my concern: The first two beers have come out pretty light and almost watery! Is this a matter of efficiency? I used 10 lbs of grain in the brown and 11 lbs in...

    Lautering tun

Hey guys and gals! I'm making a lautering tun using the schematic for a metal braid in Jim Palmer's "How To Brew." I'm having problems finding a hot water heater connector with a 1" diameter. Can I use something else? The Home Depot guy said they only come in 3/4".

    New Brew Disaster?

So, as we were brewing our first all-grain brown ale, we got WAY too drunk! I apparently passed out at the end of the boil! Anyway, my question is this: If the wort is too warm (less than 10 degrees) when I pitch my yeast, is my beer ruined? The package says to pitch at 70-75 degrees, the...

How do I determine my target OG?

I don't really understand those online spreadsheets. I'm going to brew an all-grain brown ale this weekend and this is the recipe I concocted: 7# 6-row US Pale Ale Malt 2# English Amber Malt .5# English Crystal Malt 50-60 .25# English Crystal Malt 118-123 .25# English Chocolate Malt...

    First all grain batch question

I'm about to brew my first all grain batch this weekend! I just have a question. Should I go out and spend the $50 and make a lautering tun (which I am perfectly willing to do) like I read in "How To Brew" by John Palmer, or can I just use a grain bag? What are the pros and cons?
