I love historical brews and cooking. Here is one that uses wheat bran and star anise. https://youtu.be/zKAk2c8KfNE

    Vienna malt substitute

Working out a recipe and I have no Vienna malt. What I do have on hand is: 2 row 6 row Marris Otter Carapils Biscuit Crystal 30L Crystal 60L Red Wheat Wondering if a bit of Biscuit and either 2 row or Otter would work in a pinch. Any input? Or shall I use this as an excuse...

    Holy bottle bombs Batman!!

Well this is a first for me. Made a batch of blackberry cider, been in the bottle for a couple weeks. I use plastic soda bottles since they are cheap easy and the cider does not last long around here. Woke up today and thought I smelled something yeasty, but did not give it much thought. Got...

    Is my grain crushed enough?

Got a Corona knock off mill and did a quick test grind. Seems like the grain is pretty fine, but would like other opinions.

Oregon Best home brew shop in Eugene area?

Going to be in Eugene this weekend and am curious what home brew shop you would suggest. I live a couple hours away and do not get to visit an actual shop very often. Thanks.

    Kellerbrau yeast

Bought a bottle of Kellerbrau the other day. It is a flip top bottle that is bottle conditioned. Should I try and harvest the yeast in the bottom of the bottle? Never done it before and if this yeast is worth keeping I may try and harvest it.

Best way to keep the yeasty smell out of the house?

Well my jaunt back into brewing has hit one of the same snags it did the last couple times. My wife does not like the smell of fermenting beer. I keep the stuff in a closet and when she opens it I catch hell for the smell. I like it, but of course SWMBO has to be happy before anyone else in...

    Malt extract question

Been wondering about something.... The recipes that use malts always use DME. Is this personal preference or is there a reason for using the dry extract over the liquid? I buy the liquid because it is cheaper locally. Should I invest in some of the dry stuff or am I fine with sticking to...

    Should I try it?

Been assembling some brewing gear and today I bought a Mr. Beer kit minus ingredients off Cragislist for a few bucks. I like to do half batches and these Mr. Beer kegs are great for that. Anyway, this one came with 8 of the plastic bottles (always a bonus). One of them still has beer in it...

    Greetings from Alaska

Howdy all, I have brewed off and on for about 10 years or so. Always seemed to get in a money crunch and sell my gear only to regret it later. Well we are past that now and I actually have the time and money to use for hobbies rather than bills. :rockin: Mainly did extracts and partial...
