    do it yourself malting

Ha Ha. I would like to point out the difference here. Unless it is done extremely well, almost perfectly, you will end up with an inferior product with your malt. The maltsters of the world (god bless them), have this process down! I concluded with my experiment that home malting would be...

    Why all grain?

IMO there is no way to replace the quality of properly mashed fresh wort over extract. So bearing in mind you focus on the former aspects, your extract wort will always have the ability to give you a product that is less than if you had made it fresh yourself (IMO). +1 there. That was my...

    do it yourself malting

I did some about a month ago and did not feel like it was worth my time. The drying was inefficient for me and it took forever. I love to make my own beer but I am leaving the malting to the maltsters!!:tank:

    Why all grain?

Maris Otter made me an AG Brewer.:mug: I'm about to start some SMaSH experiments. I brewed extract for a year and loved it. AG however is awesome, plus it lengthens my brewday!!:)

IIPA infected, what to do now?

After reading the thread I realize that you have racked out of primary so I would doubt its protein unless you transfered the clumps twice. Sorry, I'm a Noob to forums! If it tastes good I'd bottle it knowing that I should drink it soon and store it someplace where damage from a...

    Brewing with lemon

just the zest in secondary. I soaked mine in vodka for a bit then added it. Drink the Vodka. I use a zester that cuts little curls and only gets the good stuff, a grater or potato peeler will work well too. I used two lemons in a 5 gal batch and the flavor was noticeable and pronounced. It...

Getting the most oxygen before pitching yeast

I have a standard aquarium pump and stone that I zip tied to an old racking cane to push it to the bottom of the fermenter. About 10 bucks total. I let it go for about 30 minutes before pitching. When its done I rinse it while it is still pushing air and then put it back in my sanitizing...
