    Does anybody know if it's possible to "trick" the rhizomes into thinking that it's summer in the north by planting them in winter AZ? I remember my grandmother freezing flower bulbs through the summer to plant in the fall for this purpose and I wonder if it's possible with hops.

    I dont count on a 3-5 day. It's in the primary for 1 week and then the secondary for another week. Then to the keg for a few days usually. I'de like to leave it in the secondary for longer but my appetite needs to be fed.

    The notion came from me. I asked because I've been told that adjucts require yeast nutrient if you want the 3-5 day fermentation that is common with all malt ales. I just didn't know if rice was considered an "adjuct".

    I used a packet of Wyeast after 8 months in my fridge with no perceptible difference in performance, although most brewers I talk to say that after a couple of months you should use a "starter".
