    Cleaning TC

Whats your heat exchanger setup? Working on a full scale brewery every day i don't have to pull anything apart besides transfer hose. That being said, if you have bottlenecks (nooks and crannies) in your system things will tend to build up even with a proper cip routine. Generally you should...

    Fusti Tank as Kettle

No experience, but i work in a brewery and we've actually been looking for something like this for some sours. I'd say go for it and See if you can find the specs on it. If its rated for pressure throw a pressure gauge on there, beef up the seal and use it to pressurize/clarify.

    Figs in Stout?

Don't know if you tried this yet, but i had a 9 gallon batch of english/dry stout that i split into a 6.5 and 5. I threw 1.5lbs of home dried figs ( gdad made them for me ) on the 5 so i'll let you know how it turns out. Also threw a few oak chips on there so it might change a bit.

    Quick beer!

Hey guys I was looking for a quick suggestion. I work at a start up brewery :) and just recently got the runnings off of an imperial stout. I have it starting a boil right now and have to decide on some hops and yeast. Available in cabinet: Yeast - US-05 WL-Hefe WL- lacto <--wont use that :)...

    Wake-n-bake Clone Recipe

Sorry about the delay, but I had some complications with bottling. Unfortunately the yeast I added during bottling wasnt even enough to carb. There has been noted problems with using these barrels (and barrels in general) and trying to bottle. I will be adding some more yeast to each bottle and...

    5 gal Whiskey Barrel, jealous!?

He might of meant virgin whiskey barrel, as in it hasn't seen beer yet?? But, yes it is a fresh whiskey barrel that smells like pure amazingness :) Charred interior with no liquid left. I just transferred it over and there is a bit of head space as i had a little under 4.5 gallons. Should i add...

    5 gal Whiskey Barrel, jealous!?

I don't see anything on it that says it is. It only has "Florida Farm Distillers" stamped on it, although they might outsource their barrel from another location.

    5 gal Whiskey Barrel, jealous!?

Okay okay calm down :cross: I'm planning on adding a wake-n-bake clone to it fairly soon. Haven't made any coffee additions yet and was looking for some advice with it. Experimenting with cold steeping right now, so that is an option. I do have an espresso maker which i regularly grind and make...

    Wake-n-bake Clone Recipe

Well its been in the primary for 8 days now tested a sample at 3 days and it was around 1.040. I hit a lil high at 1.092 from not sparging enough but my last batch was a bit dry/bitter from tannins so I played it safe this time. It tasted wonderful and was very smooth with no hotness! Prob will...

    Exhaust Fans

Nope. Just comparing the specs and plenty of good reviews is enough for me. I have a friend with a 500ish cfm for an indoor system and would feel much safer if we had something with 3x the flow. Just know that the larger the fan the quieter it will be at lower speeds say if you decided to hook...

    Did I dilute my wort?

Even if you did get some in there it'll prob be ok. You should have reheated it though just to make sure. If you used some healthy yeast and your water isn't too bad you should be fine. Especially if the leak was at the end of the chiller (i.e. heated up some.)

    Pumpkin brew advice

I had followed this method before with most of my brews until my last. I had a 1.092-1.022 barleywine that was in the primary for 3 weeks and secondary for 1 week for dry hopping and oak chipping. Unfortunately I followed someones advice to use gelatin unbeknownst that I was bottling and not...

    Pumpkin brew advice

Yep, well actually I added half at 5 and the other half right at flame out so.... If I don't taste them now I doubt carbonation will help bring it back later on:cross: But yeah i've decided to let it go at least a week and a half total primary, i've just never had a brew finish this fast...

    Exhaust Fans

Is this going directly over the kettles with some kind of hood? If so just get the active air. If you're using it for a room choose a new one all together. I am assuming you're going the first route and besides slightly higher power usage and a few cfm lower the smaller one still wins hands...
