What to do with old grain

Grain still has same feel and smell as it did when it was fresh.

What to do with old grain

Hi all Once upon a time I was a homebrewer who stored his grain in 5 gal buckets with gamma screw lids. 3 plus years later and two kids I am wondering what I should do with this 3 year old grain. Just dump it in the yard, trash, or brew with it. Anyone have experience with old grain or grain...

Connecticut What's the best strategy for selling all your gear?

Hi all, Sadly over the past two years I realize I have no time for the hobby now that we have started a family. I am looking to sell all my all grain and miscellaneous brewing gear. I am wondering if it's best to try and sell the whole set or piece it out. Hopefully I will get back into the...

    Safbrew T-58

Sounds good. Mine turned out really well. I named it Not A Belgian. It was not mild by any means and was a nice mix between an American IPA and a Belgian ale.

Racked Fresh Batch of Stout onto about 1 gallon of star san

Well I finally tapped my keg of chocolate milk stout. It was not ruined. Flavors a bit muted but certainly enjoyable.

Counterflow Wort Chiller Build (and use)

You spent the money to buy the material for the chiller now spend a little more and buy a march pump. Huge improvement for me. In 5 mins I have five gallons of cooled wort. I also use a sump pump to pump ice water through the chiller.

Longevity of keggend beer stored at 66 F.

To the OP, Congrats on the new addition. I have spent the summer doing the exact same thing as we are expecting a baby boy on Sept 5. I still have an ale and two lagers to brew. I have 5 kegs all carbing up as we speak. I specifically brewed beers that would need a little extra brewing time...

    Copper as a thermawell?

Hey is there any reason why I can't use 1/4" copper tubing with a cap as a temp thermawell in my fermenter? It fits beautifully in the carboy hood/caps. I bought a hood with thermawell from morebeer but it doesn't fit my probe. Thanks for your in put.

How Much Star San in Wort?

I just racked a milk chocolate stout from my boil kettle onto about a gallon of diluted star san. Not happy about this but we will see how it turns out. Will let you know in about 8 weeks.

Oops! Racked on top of Starsan. How bad will it be??

Okay so I just did this very same thing, except I had about a gallon of star san/water mix in my carboy. I can't even blame it on drinking as I was brewing in the morning to escape the heat. I would love to know how your beer turned out. I can live it it being watered down as this was a higher...

Racked Fresh Batch of Stout onto about 1 gallon of star san

and I wasn't even drinking, just not thinking. This was a chocolate milk stout and I lost track of what I was doing and before I knew it I had already run about 2.5 gallons of my stout through my cooler and into the carboy only to realize I never emptied the gallon or so of star san out. I guess...

    Safbrew T-58

I just used this yeast in a recipe I made up and fermented at 67. Very light esters. I think you should be able to escape strong banana ester if you stay around that number.

Awesome thanks. Will put my list in tomorrow when I can check out the grain list that you provided. Thanks for explaining. I just bought a sack for 60 bucks at Maltose and although I like the idea of buying in bulk I would rather save money and buy in bulk.
