Brewjacket Immersion Chiller with corny lid

Anybody using brewjacket with a corny lid? I can't seem to figure out how to connect this sleeved black rubber into the co2 release valve? The instructions state you can use a the "spring and weight" not included?? I have no clue what that's referring to. Contacted them and got quick email reply...

    Brewjacket feedback

I have a brew jacket drilled corny lid for my blichmann conical and I can't for the life of me figure out how to hook up the sleeved grommet to the drilled co2 release? It's too wide? Can you help me understand this? I'm lost. Thanks so much.

Dry Hopping in a Cold Keg

Yes I transferred off hop material into a "serving keg" so to speak. The Randall theory was mentioned by another buddy of mine as well. From a recipe-on-paper perspective, and given the low impact my dry hops probably had, would you expect this beer to have an intense, moderate, or low hop...

Dry Hopping in a Cold Keg

Long question here. Beg your patience. Here's the recipe and back story. (Beer was technically on dry hops for 7 days in keg.) -I cold crashed primary. -Transferred this beer under co2 from primary to a co2 flushed keg with a micron filter over diptube. (hops free floating) -Put keg...

Schlafly Pale Ale - Extract Recipe???

Wondering if you managed to find something for the PA. My father in law loves it and I'd like to brew some too. Schlafly website gives some loose info. And it appears to be a pretty sessionable English ale. I was surprised by the abv.

brew jacket immersion, any one get yet?

It seems like 40db shouldn't be that bad. I guess if thats their claim and it turns out to be significantly louder, I would think they would allow you to return it.

Just wanted to see if you had an update regarding your problem? Thanks for the info in advance!

brew jacket immersion, any one get yet?

06vmi06. Thanks for info. I'm guessing you'd say it's louder than a fridge compressor one might use as a fermentation chamber??? If so that's sort of rough. Hope to hear if anyone else reports this or if it's an anomaly.

Big mouth bubbler fermenter with spigot

Getting ready to drill one myself. I have a step bit. Wondering if you had any other suggestions? The BMB is very thin. Did you support from inside while drilling? I can just envision the plastic bending and cracking from pushing with drill bit? Thanks in advance for any information.

brew jacket immersion, any one get yet?

Awesome. Thanks for info. Iodine doesn't have to be rinsed correct? Also. Any feel for how long it takes to cool. Degrees per hour so to speak. I know and exact figure would require elaborate testing. But I would really be interested in knowing how long it takes to go from 68-50F. We're you a...

brew jacket immersion, any one get yet?

I'm so serious about wanting one of these! Was hoping to read some reviews first. Thanks for post. What is the proper sanitizing method, since StarSan is out?

Finishing gravity always lower than projected

apshaffer are you mashing out your first mash with boiling water? Or your batch sparge?

Finishing gravity always lower than projected

Did you start doing this because your were having problems? On a 5 gallon batch what volume of boiling water do end up dumping? I contemplated this but thought I didn't want to then heat up more water (second time) for the batch sparge???

Finishing gravity always lower than projected

Can't thank you all for the info enough. As I try to advance my brewing technique, the concept of managing my FG as it effects body and balance has really been a blind spot for me. I never thought the enzymes continued their job once wort was in the kettle. I also thought it was important to...

Finishing gravity always lower than projected

So in the interest of speeding things up, I do actually need to get the entire volume of wort into the boil kettle to measure pre-boil gravity accurately? Yes?

Finishing gravity always lower than projected

Ok this is much clearer now thanks so much. So I guess I need to speed up my batch sparge. Or "mash out" with water that'll get me closer to 170F. I've read a lot of people fearful of overdoing that and creating astringency from the grains. Any votes for either one? Thanks again.

Finishing gravity always lower than projected

So what's confusing me about "mashing out." is..... In my setup with a cooler and batch sparging. After I batch sparge with 168F, my grain bed raises to about 158F. So I dilly-dally draining and getting the boil started. With the higher temp shouldn't I be generating more UNfermentable...

Finishing gravity always lower than projected

Anyone who batch sparges out there.... Do I need to be draining slowly. I do recirculate about 2 quarts. But should I just open her up after that?

Finishing gravity always lower than projected

I batch sparge with 168F. Let it sit after stirring for 5 minutes. Then drain pretty slowly. I do wait for my boil kettle to fill completely before I take some pre-boil gravity measurements. (I felt that was necessary to get an accurate gravity reading.) So I guess I am taking a fair amount...
