    My Homebrew Club Died

Because I quit being the entertainment committee! I got tired of being the only one who contributed to the monthly news letter, the only one who hosted a brew day, the only one who organized and planned a club meeting and after 3 1/2 years I quit. As a result, the club died!! There are...

Going to try Roasting my own Malts

I'm planning a beer that requires some dark specialty malts and I don't want to drive 106 miles round trip to the LHBS. So, I plan on digging out my 14" cast iron skillet and roasting some Maris Otter malts. I plan on regulating the heat on a portable butane burner and maybe covering the pan...

If Society Took a Dump, Tomorrow

How much beer could you brew over the next year? I've thought for some time that alcohol would be in demand if the SHTF. I have a stockpile of pail malts and specialty grains, two large propane tanks (enough to do 10, 20 gallon batches), and an assortment of dry yeasts. Anyone else...

    Hello Fellow Brewers

I came over to post about the stupidity of the Oregon Liquor Control Commission and never realized what a huge community there was here. Anyway, I posted the other thread before posting here, I hope everyone is OK with that. I've been home brewing for 4 years. Currently brewing on a 20 gal...

    Oregon squashes Home Brew Competitions

New here, but had to post this up. The Oregon Liquor Control Commission has interpreted the law governing home beer and wine brewing as being for consumption on the premises only. By their interpretation, home brew cannot be transported and shared... which means not to brew club meetings...
