    Final gravity reading

So this morning I transfered to a secondary. I tried to take a final gravity reading but didn't know how to get around the floating crap on the top (krause?) I tried pushing some to the side to dip a measuring cup but that didn't work. What is the best way to take a final gravity reading...

    bad turkey fryer

well after a hour of messing around with it I think I fixed it. I first loosed it up and stuck a screw driver in there to loosen it up, fired it up and right away I could tell a difference. So I tried sticking a washing in between the two and that actually seemed to make it worse. So I took...

    bad turkey fryer

Well I thought about that too but, my dads turkey fryer burns a lot louder than mine. Seems like I'm not getting the same pressure output as he is. I'm gunna try messing with the fittings to see if I can find the problem.

    bad turkey fryer

So the last 2 batches I've done its taken my turkey fryer forever to get water to boil. Finally this last time, my dad had his laying around and we swapped it out and it worked twice as fast. As soon as I hooked it up and fired it up, I could immediately hear the difference. With in a matter...

    brewers best kit

Well I just finished my second brew today. I did a Brewers Best Weizenbeir (Wheat). Everything went great and i'm hoping it turns out perfect. I have a question though, The instructions tell me to ferment for about 7 days then siphon to a secondary with the priming sugar mixed in and then go...

    electronics kit

I'm in college and for one of my engineering classes our teacher is having us buy an electronics kit and build it. My question is, what is something that I could build for brewing beer? I've thought about a temperature sensor to regulate fermenting temps. I'm just looking for ideas.

    carboy cork fell through :(

So my beer has been fermenting at my buddies place and he called me today to tell me the cork to the carboy got pushed through. I went of to take a look at it and the airlock is still attached but the cork is in the carboy. If i were to pull the airlock out i would assume the cork would fall...

    1st batch questions

Well I did my first batch a couple nights ago and it went pretty well. I have a few questions about my batch fermenting though. The kit I bought said it made 6 us gallons but the guy at the store said it makes a 5 gallon batch. I do have a 6 gallon carboy so I decided to use that. After I...

looking to start my first brew

Mr Bigins: what would be the benefit to that setup compared to fermenting in the bucket and transfering to a carboy for secondary? Also, I went and checked out the local home brew store and it wasn't much. It was a hobbie shop and they had just an isle for brewing. They had some all in one...
