Freezer closed with equipment = mold

Yeah the regulator was on the co2 bottle - so in theory the mold is just on the surface of the outside - or possible up into the part where the hose attaches to the regulator and on the closed valve inside the regulator. I guess I'll give it a try cleaning up and take it from there. Thanks...

Freezer closed with equipment = mold

I left my freezer closed over the winter with my co2 tank, regulator and hose. It's not awful, but there's a little surface fuzz and black junk. I'm wondering if I can salvage my regulator somehow? The valve to the hose was closed. Can it be dunked or will that ruin it?

    NanoBrewery build

How do you like the size building you have? How big are your batches these days? I'm trying to figure out how to start out both in building size and brew size. I was also thinking of a roughly 200 sq ft building but don't want to really expand the actual building size later . It's hard to...

Ever tasted water sitting in Bevlex 200?

It's carbon filtered tap water.in theory there shouldn't be chlorine in the water I think. If i purge the water out of the line and get water from sitting in the keg, that just runs through the line, versus sitting in the line... it tastes a bit better, although I think you may have a second...

Ever tasted water sitting in Bevlex 200?

I made some carbonated water and noticed the water sitting in the Bevlex 200 is terrible. Obviously it makes me wonder about having beer sit in the beer line between pours. You may not notice it--I don't... but clearly the if the taste is getting in the water, it's getting in the beer. Is...

Do you know if the TTB requires the brewery to be some certain number of feet away from your (or other) residences?

1st time using FERMENTAP counter pressure bottle filler

I also just tried this for the first time... and it come out awful. It was all foam everywhere. I am not exactly following your directions other than it sounds like it required a lot of tinkering on every single bottle. I've seen videos of people using these in a production environment and...

    Exploring "no chill" brewing

fwiw I chill my wort in the brew kettle outside overnight with the lid on . It cools down much quicker outside (even in summer temps, I think the wind helps to cool it) It's not air airtight but I have never had a problem. I've considered trying a corny, but have never done it.

Manual 2 Head counter pressure bottling line

So do you do timed fills with the solenoids? 1 button does both co2 and the beer fill? I've seen the auto filler/capper on ebay. Slick but $$$$$. Thanks!

Manual 2 Head counter pressure bottling line

What ever happened to this bottle filler? Love the idea and would like to do something similar.

Spunding Valve Construction For Corny Keg

so is the morebeer.com part indeed a spunding valve? http://morebeer.com/products/ball-lock-qd-adjustable-pressure-valve-wgauge.html Is that the best one to buy if I'm not going to put it together myself? thanks

    Closed-system pressurized fermentation technique!

Can someone offer a guideline to when/how much to build pressure? Do you start it at 1psi and turn it up 1 psi a day? Do you let it go a few days before building it up beyond 1 psi? Also, How full can you fill a corny with this method? 4.5 gallons out of 5 for example?

    The MaxOut Brew Station

Thanks for the response. This was the freezer I had i mind. It seems to be discontinued. ha. I bet with a little mod of the legs of the F.V. it could fit though (maybe just a custom order for shorter legs). I'll keep researching. Dimensions for the F.V. Glacier says: 1600mm x 600mm (63"H...

    The MaxOut Brew Station

MaxOut, Sorry if this is a repeat: Which sizes of the Glacier tank conical do you have? Are they the 50 gal? IF so, do you know if there's any consumer based freezer that'll those will fit in? Do you know the difference between the "commercial" and "consumer" (uni) 50 gallon conical? Thanks...

Anybody using a Glacier Tanks conical fermenter?

I'm looking at the Glacier 50 gallon. does anyone know if there's a consumer upright freezer that this would fit in? There used to be some 25 cubic foot ones around (commercial fridges are too expensive) It would be a lot cheaper to go $1500 conical + $1000 freezer than $3000 jacketed...

    DME vs. LME

So the age old question... If the LME is fresh, is it better than DME?

    NanoBrewery build

Sorry if this has been covered. What were TTB's concerns as it pertained to having your brewery on your property? Were there issues with your septic systems capacity... how far the brewery is from your home? Having an official "office" space, locked/secured finished product storage...

Bottle flat beer (to be bottle carbed) from keg?

awesome, thanks. I don't have the setup to purge each bottle yet, but will give that a try next time.

Bottle flat beer (to be bottle carbed) from keg?

I was thinking about going from the carboy to a keg with boiled/cooled DME in it and then bottling from that. My reasons would be 1) Less oxidation by purging the keg with co2 before transferring flat beer to it 2) Easier to mix DME into solution without oxidizing , see #1 3) Easier to...

    Help with stc-1000 programming?

Yeah you got it. The compressor shuts off but temp keeps going down. Doing my first temp controlled batch and I taped the probe to the side of carboy and that seemed to fix the problem of going too low on the temp. Holding steady at like 19 C. Thanks for the suggestions.
