    Maple Bacon Porter

Incutrav, I'm making a similar beer - maple smoked "bacon" stout. I'm going for a smokey stout with noticeable maple. How much of the maple bacon coffee did you use, how did you add it (just grounds, brewed coffee etc.) and when? Thanks!

My First Recipe -Advice and Opinions Needed!

I created my first recipe and would love some tips/advise/opinions. It is a Double IPA, I am going for a strong hop aroma but not extreme bitterness coplimented by malty backbone. I want a complex hop profile so I went to my lhbs and picked out a bunch of hops then entered them into beer smith...

Autumn Seasonal Beer Thunderstruck Pumpkin Ale (AG and Extract versions)

Just brewed this last night! I found organic pumpkin pie at Publix for about $2.50 a can. I baked the pumpkin for an hour, then let it cool for a little bit before putting it in a cheesecloth. The cloth was virtually useless as most of the pumpkin seeped out of it by the end of the boil anyways...

    Half full carboy

I have a porter with vanilla beans in my 5 gallon glass carboy. I want to add some oak chips soaked in makers mark to half the batch, but all I have is a 5 gallon glass carboy, 6 gallon plastic fermenter and 6 gallon plastic bottling bucket. The beer tastes great already so I am a littler...

    Homebrewing in Brazil

Thanks Mateo, I met a bunch of cool homebrew guys and want to send them some American craft beers that are nearly impossible to find in Brazil. What carrier would you normally use (UPS, FEDEX, etc.)?

    Homebrewing in Brazil

Does anyone know how to ship beer from the states to Brazil and what to declare for customs?

    Homebrewing in Brazil

Muito Obrigado PhilBrasil! Skol and Brahma are the usual suspects in Brazil although the international version of Brahma which is now pretty sparse in the US is apparently different than the Brahma in Brazil. I tried a few brazilian beers made by Tropical and a pale ale by Eisenbahn, and...

Aged IPA with Oak Chips a Good Idea?

How many ounces of oak did you use per 5 gallons?

Aged IPA with Oak Chips a Good Idea?

Thanks shamrock, I'm looking for a very subtle oak flavor. What are the big differences between dry hopping in the primary vs. secondary? I would imagine the hop flavor and aroma would be more fresh and crisp if hopped in the secondary. Thanks!

Aged IPA with Oak Chips a Good Idea?

I'm brewing an IPA similar to Cigar City's Jailai tonight, then will let it sit in the primary until next wednesday when I'll rack it to my secondary and possibly add the oak chip. Any thoughts on if I should soak them in anything? I will then leave my beer in the secondary for a little over...

Aged IPA with Oak Chips a Good Idea?

Thanks for the advise! I can have my girlfriend throw in the dry hops while I am away. When would be the ideal time to dry hop. As of now I'm planning to have her dry hop it 2 weeks before bottling. I bought an ounce of oak chips at the brew shop but I'm still debating whether to add them...

Aged IPA with Oak Chips a Good Idea?

I'm hoping to brew 5 gallons of an (AG) & Extract IPA today which I will leave it in the primary fermenter until next Wednesday, then rack it in a secondary (glass carboy) for 6 weeks at about 65 degrees before I bottle it. I'm planning to use the dogfish 60 min clone recipe but add a little...

    Final Gravity too High?

Thank you for the tips! Will a belgian wit do well at the temps of (70-80F) for 6 weeks in a glass carboy? I bought the ingredients for a recipe yesterday when I was anticipating being able to brew today. I'm not sure if I'll be able to return it to the brew shop.

    Final Gravity too High?

I'm not sure, today was the first time I've checked. I've been too nervous to open the fermentor because I'm nervous of contamination. I'm going to leave it for a few more days to be careful.

    Final Gravity too High?

I guess I'll have to wait until I get back. My apartment during the day is normally about 75, and I'll have no control over it while I'm gone. I was hoping to have bottled the beer by then but if I have to wait to brew I wont have any other choice. I only have one primary and one bottling bucket.

    Final Gravity too High?

So do you think my bottles will explode if I bottle now?

    Final Gravity too High?

I don't have a secondary yet, just a bottling bucket but I plan to change this soon. I'm going to bottle my first batch when it's ready then brew another one to sit for awhile. Does anyone recommend any styles of beer or have good recipes that will age nicely for 6 weeks in a carboy left at...
