Add priming sugar today and bottle tomorrow?

Waiting for stuff to cool is even more boring than watching stuff come to a boil. It just hit me, thank you HBT, that I do not really need to wait for the priming solution to cool, a cool bucket/keg is all I need. Regardless, I have a lot of canned priming solution in the closet. I got a...

    Anyone using biofoam?

According to the manufacturer, Kerry of Fermcap and Whirlfloc fame, Biofoam: ► Improves natural foam ► Enhances cling ► Stabilises foam by protecting against: - glassware detergents - food traces - lipstick - raw material lipids...

My friend made a video of my brewing. It looks sweet.

Funny thing about carboys. Growing up in Mexico we got drinking water delivered to our house in 20 liter glass carboys just like that. We learned to handle them at a young age and have never been too scared of them. In 12 or so years that I can remember, only one broke, and it was totally not my...

My friend made a video of my brewing. It looks sweet.

Thanks again. The racking from the grain bag wrapped chiller thing is an independent discovery. I came here very excited to post about it and found many posts mentioning the trick. I am responsible for the brewing, this is batch #20 or so for me. Sergio is responsible for filming, editing...

My friend made a video of my brewing. It looks sweet.

Thanks a lot for the compliments. We actually find the mistakes very funny, they perfectly capture the spirit of that particular brew session. We had some awesome beers (I Hardcore You, Monk's Brew, Calabaza Blanca, one from BR. De Ranke, and homebrewed ESB) and got a perfect buzz going. I...

My friend made a video of my brewing. It looks sweet.

I hope it is ok to post this kind of thing here. I had a couple of friends over this Saturday to brew the Surly Bender clone. One is a homebrewer, the other is just getting into video production and editing. He brought his new camera to do some filming and then went home to play with his...

    Stirstarters.com

I am loving my stirstarter. I guess the noise complaints are due to different hearing thresholds and variances in flask manufacturing (and in stirstarter manufacturing to a lesser degree, I beleive these are hand assembled). I thought it would be very noise, but I have left it running for 48...

    Heatstick = awesome!

My puny stove could barely bring 3 gallons to a gentle boil. I just did a full boil for a 4 gallon batch. With the heatstick on, stove set to high, 5.5 gallons would boil so hard that the pot started rocking back and forth. I had to turn the stove down to 7. The element is a 1,500 watt...

    Allied 1000W Bucket Heater

The piece of solder is what joins the thermostat probe (stainless steel rod) to the element itself. It would be very easy to cover it up with some food safe silicone if anyone worries. I could have kept it for my strike and sparge water, but I already have that part of the process dialed in. I...

    Allied 1000W Bucket Heater

Reviving zombie thread because it is the first result in google for homebrew bucket heater. DO NOT USE IT I got one to help my crappy electric stove get to a rolling boil. It will get to boiling a lot faster, but then it will get into an on/off cycle that gives you 5 seconds of rolling boil...

Easy oxygen free racking (I hope)

What I did for mushrooms was to put the CO2 generating stuff (fermentation, dry ice, baking soda) in a tupperware with a hole in the cap, pass a hose through the cap and into a bubbler (a soda bottle half full of sanitizer with two hoses) and from there to the grow chamber. You could omit the...

Easy oxygen free racking (I hope)

Dry ice! Why did I not think of it. That would be so easy and you get a visual of how full the bucket is. I can get it practically for free a few blocks from my house.

Easy oxygen free racking (I hope)

This is not speculation, I already did it, but did not take pictures. There was nothing I could see coming out of the hose, there is about a gallon of head-space in the carboy. But if anything else was coming out, would it not be the same kind of stuff I have in the other bucket I am racking?

Easy oxygen free racking (I hope)

Thanks for the compliments :o I just like to tinker and experiment. I am too new to this to be able to tell if anything I do will make a difference, that is why I like feedback.

Easy oxygen free racking (I hope)

First time poster, long time lurker. I am pretty much a noob to beer brewing, with only 1 finished batch and 2 on the way, but I have a lot of experience with planted aquariums, fish breeding and gourmet mushroom growing. These hobbies are a lot more similar than most people think...
