Thoughts on FFBC46F5LS to kegerator conversion?

Well, I can tell you that if it works, it'll look really swank! Having an integrated temp control like that would be a godsend as long as it's accurate. That being said, I have no idea how the coolant lines are run in this model, so I can't speak to how well a tower could be installed. If...

How many gallons of homebrew in 2011?

    5 gals of Lemon Coriander Weiss 555 + 5 = 560

where is the stock temp prob on the sanyo 4912M?

On my 4912, the probe is attached to the bottom of the coolant coil just above and slightly to the right of the drain hole.

Setting up for my brew club's first big brew party...

So, my homebrew club's first big brew party is coming up and I've used that as an excuse to get into kegging. I found a Sanyo 4912 on craigslist and have kegeratorized it (I'll post some pics once I get all the pretty parts finished.), so I should be set for dispensing. I've got two batches...

How many gallons of homebrew in 2010?

So, just because I'm a fan of visualizing these kinds of things, I'd like to point out that 42, 539 gallons would fill 5 full size tanker trucks. I want to go to that party...

    Hello from Minneapolis

Hey Hey! Nice to see another fella from Minneapolis! Welcome to the board and to the hobby/lifestyle.

    Checking in....

Too much time and money on your hands, huh? Well, homebrewing will fix that. ;) Welcome to the madness!

How many gallons of homebrew in 2010?

5 more gallons of Superior Strong Ale from me. 38,100 + 5 = 38,105 (Math is hard...) Just as an aside, 38,105 gallons of beer would fill a 25' x 50' pool to a depth of 4' with enough left over to fill a hot tub or two.

    Scotch in beer.

I've seen recipes that call for Scotch. One in particular called for oak cubes soaked in scotch along with the scotch they were soaked in (a pint or so for a 5gal batch, maybe? I can't remember). I've not tried it myself, but there's definitely precedent out there for it. I'd say, try...

    IPA's... what's the draw?

Oh man, if you don't drink IPAs, that only leaves you with porters, stouts, milds, bitters, EPAs, APAs, Dubbels, Tripels, Krieks, ESBs, barleywines, wheats, hefes, pilsners, schwarzbiers, kolschs, dunkels, and lagers! I suppose you could live that way... If you can call that living! In all...

Illegal "local brew" kills 14 in Kenya

So that's why my brews keep failing, not enough battery acid! I'll have to double it in my next recipe... :tank:

Worst Commercial Beer You've Ever Had?

Back in my college years, me and my mates would always try to find terrible, terrible beverages, mainly for the novelty (but also because they tended to cost next to nothing). A lot went through that house: Milwaukee's Best (The BEAST!), Blue Diamond (It's everybody's best friend! It...

Does your local brew shop crush grain?

Yeah, NB will do it for you for free. Though you have to remember to ask. I got a kit from them a while ago with specialty grains that I forgot to have crushed. Ruined a perfectly good cutting board trying to crush them myself... :P

    Gills?!

That must be a REALLY old recipe. A gill pot is the equivalent of a quarter imperial pint, so about 4oz. To be fair, the only reason I know that is from an old drinking song: ~\o Here's good luck to the Hogshead, good luck to the Barley Mow. Jolly good luck to the Hogshead, good luck to the...

    Minneapolis- here I come!

+1 on Town Hall. If you're gonna be on campus, that's the one for you. If you're willing to go a little further afield, the Herkimer is down Lyndale a ways from downtown and they're pretty sweet too. http://www.theherkimer.com/ As an aside, Town Hall is opening a new location within walking of...

    Beer Nightmare!

I actually had a beer-mare the other night! I was bottling and none of them would seal. I'd clamp down my capper and, when I took it off, there was foam spraying everywhere. This happened to bottle after bottle with cap after cap... I wasn't even bottling that day. I have no idea what...

    Looking for kegging advice...

Hey all, Here's my situation: I'm getting married next spring and I'm using that as an excuse to jump into kegging. We've found a venue that doesn't require that we buy booze from them(so many of them do these days! It's a scam, I tells ya!), so my plan is for me and members of my brew...

    Homemade Bottling Bucket

I would reccommend using a step drill bit to make the hole if you have access to one. If not, I'd say drill a hole that's slightly too small for whatever spigot you're using then slowly expand the hole until you can start threading the spigot shank right into the plastic bucket wall. Some of...

Let's hear your "crazy stout" ideas!

Oooh, and if you rack it on some cherries for the secondary, it'd be a Schwarzwaldkirschtorte Bier!
