    High electric bill??

All great ideas. Refrigeration works better with it being full rather than empty. Thro some 1 gal milk jugs full of water in the empty spaces of both freezers and frig to save money on electric.

So in theory, if I brew my own, I can pay 2.50 a six pack?

I also am a retired person so cost is a factor in everything I spend money on. I buy in bulk, hops, 50 lb. bag two row, reuse my yeast. We have an all-grain system that we built. Keg for heating water, Igloo cooler for mashing and a 50 gal. stainless steel Coca Cola barrel cut in-half for the...

    New Problem?

Yesterday we launched our all-grain brew machine of the future. We went with a small batch to check it out leaks and such. Half barrel system 3 of us have been working on 3 months. All was going great thru the mash and into the boil and ho schedule. Then I turned on the new flat plate...

    Klosch Problem?

We made a Klosch about 6 weeks ago. My apprentice likes the taste but to me it has a cidery flavor and smell. Is this the way a klosch should be. Also went to a bar the other day to test drive some of the new to me sour beers that some are raving about. Not for me. Couldnt wait to get to the...

    Why Wait

I will fish those dry hops out of the bucket. Can I refrigerate those hops and then throw them back in in 7 days?

    IKEA swing top bottles

Portland, Or. had them last time I looked. I think the price went up from the first time I bought them. Go Figure. I did change the washer on them to the ones we get at the brew shop, they didnt seem to have any give to them just hard plastic. But I do like them.

    Why Wait

I brewed an IPA yesterday and I threw in some citra hops at the last to dry hop. Now I am reading that I should have waited a few days before putting them in. Have I done something terribly wrong? Probably will be beer, but why wait? Also I grow some Liberty hops and will I contaminate the...

    Will this work?

My 4th post. I do kegging half the year when I am in San Felipe, Baja Ca. When I am in Oregon I do bottling, because I do not have a extra frig. My idea (dont know if it will work) is to keep the keg outside the food frig. and have a coil or a cold sink inside the frig to keep the homebrew...

Really, into the forest for honey? That is wild. Couldn't get me out their. Too many bitey, stingey things, not to mention the cobras. Of course I am not a local. I was there in your beautiful country for two weeks visiting my daughter and son-in-law. They were teaching English at a school in...

    Problems bottling my mead

I helped a friend make his first batch of mead last year. When we tried it , it looked like this but tasted OK. The honey was suspect as he got it from a bee keeper and it was a second run so to speak. 5 gal pail was I think $40 dol. It looked like it had a lot of wax in it. Didnt pour too good...

    Thailand Honey

No, this is not a porn site. 10 years ago I ran across some honey from central Thailand, Kon Ken is the spelling I think. It was the most amazing honey ever, very floral is the way I would explain it. Lots of orchids in the area and fruit I didnt know existed. I did meet a Thai honey but I...

    Exploding Mead

Am new here so this probably has beenaddressed before. My mead tends to push out the cork even after being in the secondary over a year on two different batches. What I did get to drink was amazing. Baja honey, drinking some now. How do I stop the fermentation in the bottle?

    One More Beer Guy

Have looked into the forum a couple times. Lots of good info. Have been brewing something or other for 20 years. Beer, wine, mead. Partial mash mostly. We go to Northern Baja for the winter so I guess we are technically Snowbirds, at 64 years old I guess I will figure that out when I grow up...
