    belgium wit clear?

So, my 2nd batch of brew was a blegium wit with a corriander orange peel pack. After being in primary for a week and a half and secondary for 2 1/2 weeks, i bottled. The beer is crystal clear. Every wheat i have had has been cloudy. Whats the deallyo? Did i leave it alone for too long? It tastes...

    Beer separating?

It was in primary for 12 days. When I did the hydro it looked liked the Belgium Wits I've had before.

    Beer separating?

Simple enough. I guess this is the first brew that I could actually see that happening. Thanks!

    Beer separating?

I just racked my Belgium Wit(with corriander and orange peel) to 2ndary yesterday. This morning there was a thin dark stripe at the top of the carboy. Now it's even bigger. I have no idea what's causing this. Perhaps the oils from the orange peels are separating? Here's a pic. Let me know...

    Weird looking wheat?

Great news! Thanks, guys. The bubbles are what worried me. I didn't see this is my previous batches. I'll keep an eye our for fur.

The big chunks on top are orange peels. Sorry for the poor photography.

    Weird looking wheat?

So, 7 days ago I brewed a Blue Moon clone extract kit. I popped the top yesterday and took a look and it looked a bit strange to me. This is my first wheat and the first brew with spices and orange peel. There is some stuff on top with some bubbles. Mind you, I left the orange peels and...

    Memphis TN unite!

Hey, Colson. I'm in Shaven now, but will be back in midtown next month. I just got into brewing. Do you have a group of friends that brew? I've got a couple, and we were thinking about putting together a brew "club"? Ya know, just share beers, talk shop, and so on. Shoot me a message if...

That makes sense, Zamial. Thanks for the words of comfort. I might just RDWHAHB.

    spice pack query.

It is an extract batch. The instructions said to add h20 until I hit the 5.25 gallon mark. I feel like I should have done hydro readings after each bit of h20 I added. I made sure it was well mixed before the hydro test. I think I just put too much h20 in there. Will this make the beer...

    spice pack query.

How bout this, the literature said the target sg should be 1.053. I gotta 1.046. Do you think this is because I did strain it? I let as much orange peel and corriander through as possible. My tap water measured just below 1, so that might make up .002 of it. Any ideas?

    spice pack query.

Excellent! Thanks for the advice, guys.

    spice pack query.

So, I'm doing my 2nd brew in a bit(water's on now). It's a Belgium Wit with a spice pack to add 15 min before end of cooking. My question is this. Do I need to strain the wort while pouring into primary? Do I just leave it in there for the duration? Please advise. Thanks in advance.

    Can I please bottle?

So, I primary fermented my extract fat tire clone for one week and 2 days. I then racked to secondary. It has been there for 1 week and 1 day. The FG was 1.009 for 3 days. The sediment is about a inch on the bottom of the carboy. My question is this, Is there really that much that takes...

    Oh Noes! Yeast rafts?

Yeah, this was after the krausen had formed and fallen. OG was 1.044 and after 4 days it was down to 1.009 and steady. I didn't realize it could finish up that fast. I still waited a full 9 days to rack to 2ndary. I'm gonna try and leave it in for 2 weeks, but others are telling me to go...
