    $6.99 CO2 tank refills - Denver/Boulder/CO Springs/Ft Collins

I realize that I'm reviving a very old thread but wanted to let everyone know that Way to Grow is still doing extremely cheap CO2 fills and they will swap out a tank with an expired hydro test for no additional fee. I swapped out my empty, expired 20lb CO2 tank yesterday for a full 20lb...

    Laid off at 25...

I got laid off about 4 years ago and it was one of the best things that has ever happened to me. Not only did it free me from a job I would most likely have been stuck in for a long time (no real advancement potential but not bad enough to have the "I have to get out" feelign) but my new career...

    Gabf 2013

I'm thinking you probably won't get through 2600+ beers in one session (or 12)...

    Plate Chiller Setup

I have the same setup from Bobby M with the digital thermometer and the camlocks. It's an excellent setup that is easy to deal with and works great! He even sells the full setup now with the plate chiller and all the fittings so you don't have to go multiple places or worry about getting all...

I hit 500 beers on Untappd!

I'm at 1125 but I don't always add every beer I try. Untappd can definitely be addictive.

    what would you purchase next?

I would definitely go for a chiller, though I'd probably push you towards a plate chiller...

New York 2 Tickets for Beers for Beasts this Saturday, 4/6/13

I've got two tickets for the daytime session (1PM - 5PM) of Beer for Beasts which is this Sunday; unfortunatley I have to work this weekend so I can't make it. The festival is completely sold out and daytime session tickets have been sold out for almost a month. I'd just like to get my money...

A post for fellow beginners based on what I've learned over my first month...

Nice points for beginners and some experienced brewers. I'm not in the iodophor camp myself and would recommend that new brewers use StarSan instead but that's a preference thing. Also, pfgonzo is right in what he says that you only need to worry about your beverage getting light-struck (a...

    frozen bottles of beer

If the cap/seal didn't leak then they should be alright, though you may notice some small differences in flavor. If they leaked they will definitely have less carbonation than when you bottled which will change the way you perceive the balance of flavors in the beer. I would think with a...

Keezer is full need to change some kegs out

I wouldn't bother purging the keg as it warms if it is already carbed. Yes, some of the CO2 will come out of solution as the beer warms up but just make sure that when you cool the keg down again you allow some time at the colder temp for the CO2 to go back into solution.

How do people find breweries to visit?

In addition to web searches I use the BreweryMap app for my Droid. It pulls a Google map of your location and overlays local breweries on the map as well as providing links to the brewery's websites, beer lists, and reviews. Its great to find out what's around or to find a quick stop on a long...

    How Professional Brewery's Clean/Sanitize

BDJohns1 is correct; it depends on the process. I had something I've been working on in my mind which only requires a caustic loop and water flush, not an acid loop as well. Normally you'll do the caustic and then acid, with optional water rinses before/after each step depending on what you're...

    Sort of old crushed grain

I brewed a kit that arrived crushed in a sealed plastic bag and then sat in my garage with no temp control for at LEAST 6 months. That beer came out great. I wouldn't worry about it.

    How Professional Brewery's Clean/Sanitize

Just hot caustic and then water to rinse. That will get things nice and sanitary. *** My original response above is incomplete, due to a partially fried brain. :drunk: Please see post #12 for what I should have posted here. :mug:

Swap out buckets for a carboy?

Unless, of course, you had used a blow off tube on the bucket just like you did on your carboy.
