Water Analysis Results - San Marcos, Texas

Wow I really appreciate all of your suggestions. I will be getting some phosphoric acid. I have looked into the water source and it sounds like it doesn't change much from year to year, I will probably do this again in a few years to see if it changes. Water softeners are popular in this area...

Water Analysis Results - San Marcos, Texas

I finally got my water analyzed thinking about it for ten years. I have been reasonably happy with my beer (accepting off flavors as largely a result of mistakes I've made) but I wanted to start making kegged mineral water and so I got curious about the specific contents. Our water in theory...

60qt. Ice Cube Mash Tun Build - $cheap and simple

I wish I'd thought of this because it's a great idea. a metal ruler with a key written on it or since it's a mash tun, the back of your "charismatic" mash paddle would be great. The only other thing I could think of was branding/scratching it into the walls but that didn't seem like a good idea...

    Beano Experiment

I'd be curious what this did to a known recipe, something similar but probably more typically flavorful already would be BierMuncher's Cream of Three Crops - https://www.homebrewtalk.com/showthread.php?t=66503

Brooklyn Brew Shop - Citrus Gose

Yeah, I used coarse sea salt. We ended up making about 100 beer dough pizzas with it, deglazed a lot of pans, added to various soups and dips. It wasn't a disaster. I'll probably try it again one day with something like 10% of the salt.

Brooklyn Brew Shop - Citrus Gose

Well thanks for your feedback, I'll have to see what happens after a few weeks in the secondary and be planning on another batch soon. Think I'm going to go with something a little more middle of the road next.

Brooklyn Brew Shop - Citrus Gose

So, I have made several of the brooklyn brew shop's 1 gallon recipes from kits so I bought the book. I have been very happy with all of their recipes that I have tried until today. I had made a few of the five gallon recipes when I first tried a Gose which I really liked. So I tried making the...

60qt. Ice Cube Mash Tun Build - $cheap and simple

Also a beginner here but about to build this manifold thing for my first all grain batch. The answer to question 2 is that if you did that you would not get suction, the middle section that bends up and has no holes will create a siphon (when paired with a long enough tube on the outside)...

    Painted labels

I just realized that CLR is a more general household product. I've been meaning to get some for a showerhead but was blanking on the name (the label is a dead giveaway though). That I can pick up pretty quickly.

    Painted labels

Well, I appreciate all your replies. I don't have any CLR for now, just brewvint cleanitizer and starsan. I'm going to try it with starsan until I get a chance to make a run to AHS. I have had the experience of the print coming off of stone bottles, especially old guardian, which I was going to...

    Painted labels

I did a search and didn't find anything specific about this. Anyway, I really like the shape of the Corona Familiar bottles and am wondering if anyone has ever tried taking the labels off. The bottles are (according to wikipedia) 31.8 U.S. fl oz (see attached image). I've had some stone...

    Introducing...

Hi! My name is Michael and I live in Central Texas. I've been brewing a little over a year now and am trying to expand my understanding. I posted a question before introducing myself (bad forum ettiquette I know). That was about raspberry beer, turned out great but after about two months the...

    How did you find us?

Found you looking for info about AHS recipe kits. After a short time I realized this is the major brewing community in the world (as far as I can tell).

Fresh Fruit and Alcohol Boost affecting OG?

SO update on the beer after aging in the bottles and trying to drink it slowly - it is delicious. Basically I added two boxes of fresh raspberries to the wort after the hops, after letting it cool to a safe temp to prevent the release of pectins and left it covered but did not bring the temp...
