Despite taking photography classes in college, I would be one of those people. I just can't make myself learn the ins and outs of digital cameras. Thanks again everyone, you're actually starting to make this difficult with all of the good suggestions.

He definitely uses a digital camera, that I know. The last one he handed down to me was a Cybershot DSC-F707. No idea what he upgraded to though.

I should say that I know I can walk into any bookstore and find a ton of choices, but was hoping for a recommendation since I don't know what to look for. I'd hate to get a crappy book that he never uses.

I wish I knew what camera he was using these days, I'll try to find out. He takes a pretty wide range of shots - most of it is just for general use. They like the outdoors, so a lot of landscapes and just whatever they see when they're out and traveling.

I was wondering if anyone out there could recommend a good photography book for someone that is into photography, but has probably never taken any classes. Something that had techniques and cool ideas. Anything like that exist out there? I'm trying to find a good gift for my brother in law...

If you're struggling for something to pair the IPA with, maybe you should switch it with the smoked beer. IMO smoked beers are a great pairing with many cheeses, and who doesn't love an IPA with red meat? I obviously don't know what they taste like though, but it's just a thought.

Just wanted to post that I made this recipe this past spring. I really enjoyed the flavor and aroma of the hops. Those who tried it all enjoyed it as well, as it's a lot different than store bought pale ales in this area.

I should add that I've read many posts that said putting the lid on and wrapping a towel or something around the pot was good enough. Wasn't enough for mine though.

I preheat the oven to the lowest temp I can, put the lid on the pot, throw it in, and turn the oven off. Unless of course your oven goes down low enough to your mash temp, but mine doesn't.

Thanks guys. I think I'll get an oven thermometer to put on the rack so I can monitor the temp without opening the oven. I'm guessing the mash won't fluctuate in temp very quickly, so as long as I start at the right temp and keep the oven warm enough, I should be good. Like you said, I guess...
