Popped the top of my first brew!

Green meaning young and not fully aged, not literally green. :mug: To the OP, congrats! It certainly is gratifying drinking beer you created. Next batch I'd go with extract with specialty grains. Not any harder and you can brew some exceptionally good beer. On my 3rd batch myself. I like...

    First Bottling Day

Go ahead and taste on after a week. I'm just on my second brew now, but I tasted my first at 1 week, 2 weeks and now 3. The difference is really noticeable. After 1 week my Red ale had a strong alcohol taste that pretty much disappeared and really smoothed out after 3 weeks. I suspect it...

    Safety first

    Ouch! Glad you'll be OK.

    What are you brewing today?

Bottled a Red Ale yesterday and will be brewing a Brewers Best Summer Ale Monday.

    First Brew Day Tomorrow...

I find it easier/better to just buy gallons of spring water to brew with. I stick 3 in the fridge or even freezer(but don't let them freeze) then when added to the wort will bring the temp down faster.

    Some questions about bottling/sanitizing.

This guy does it pretty much like you are. Don't worry about the tap water it will be fine. Nothing wrong with bottle priming either. I wonder if everybody gets perfect distribution of priming sugar every time batch priming.

Tried my first homebrew last night! Awesome!

Way cool man! I've got the same kit sitting in a secondary right now and it's my first home brew as well. Hope it turns out as good as yours, it's looking good so far. :mug:

    Goat Milk Stout

Fresh goats milk is awesome I drink it every day! I wouldn't want it in my beer though.

Is this Vinyl Tubing from the store safe?

The previously mentioned about pressure plus the soft tubing won't be able to seal in a compression fitting for an ice maker. They're fine for siphoning I use the same thing.

Should I move my fermenter to a warmer climate?

Well I bought a hydrometer today and checked it. It's at 1.012. The kit said OG to be 1.048 - 1.052 so I would guess it's doing just fine. Smelled, looked and tasted good too! Going to let it sit for another 1 - 2 weeks before I bottle unless someone tells me that's too long. It's only...

    Post your infection

I've got 2 buckets 1 for fermenting and 1 for bottling and both have spigots. I did filter out the trub from my wort into the fermenting bucket. My plan was to rack to bottling bucket after fermenting was complete. I am a newb though and this is my first batch but from what I've read(and I've...

I thought I could just take readings from the spigot.

Should I move my fermenter to a warmer climate?

My plan was to leave it for 2 weeks. Again I'm in no rush and if time makes it better I'm willing to wait. Plus the stores are loaded with Bells Oberon now!

Should I move my fermenter to a warmer climate?

Yes I need one anyhow so I will go get one tomorrow. If I remember right the directions said to leave in fermenter for 5-7 days before bottling so maybe it's a fast fermenting batch.

Does anyone ever take the top off an Ale Pale during fermentation just to have a look or is that a bad idea?

Should I move my fermenter to a warmer climate?

Well I moved it upstairs a few hours ago and it hasn't started bubbling again. It bubbled hard for two days then quit. Normal??

Should I move my fermenter to a warmer climate?

I'm in no hurry just want it to turn out right so whatever is best for it, 62 or 68 degrees I can do either.
