    Blowoff tube: gunk in bowl

I brewed a wheat beer about a week and a half ago. I had a REALLY active fermentation with krausen flowing through the blowout tube for several days. The bowl with my sanitized water turned as brown as the beer. I walked in today, and the room smelled strongly of beer and i realized there was...

    randomish question...insurance claim

Hi all, I don't post here often, but troll for recipes all the time :mug: I recently had a pipe burst in my house, and the giant hole in my ceiling was directly above some of my brewing equipment. It got soggy insulation in my carboy and the underside of one of my secondary fermentation...

best compliment you could hope for!

i just had a buddy move back in town...i guess i'd never told him i was brewing. anyway, he stopped by the house, and i gave him a glass of beer, and we had the following exchange: him: "what is this?" me: "brown ale" him: "no, i meant whose is it? that's really good." me: "mine" him...

    carbonation issue

this seems weird. i tested a bottle of my second batch (Pale Ale) a week after bottling, and it was perfect. now, though, after three weeks of aging, i cracked open a bottle and it was flat. i thought maybe it was just capped badly or something, so i tried another bottle -- same thing. :(

just patting myself on the back

don't mind me. sampled a bottle of my second batch last night after 10 days aging in the bottles -- hot damn! that's a good beer :ban: American Pale Ale from American Brewmaster here in Raleigh; nice aroma, great taste, pretty cloudy (but not nearly as much sediment as my first batch) :mug...

    personal wiki page?

so, i've been keeping notes and whatnot about my first two batches in a google doc, but think it might be easier (and i admit, probably way dorkier) to start my own personal wiki page. anyone do anything like this? have any programs to suggest? i did a google search and apparently there are...

anyone ever try making an Emmer Beer?

during a trip to Germany this past fall, i fell in love with Riedenburger's Historisches Emmer Bier ...would LOVE to give a stab at making my own version, once i get a few more batches under my belt (i'm fermenting my second batch right now). http://www.beerculture.org/2009/04/30/emmer-beer/

    hola

hey guys...just finished bottling my first batch. i did a two-bucket kit from American Brewmaster (http://www.americanbrewmaster.com/) here in Raleigh. i went with the Irish Red Ale... anyway, i feel pretty good about everything except this: the batch only produced 34 bottles. that seems...
