I had no problem going through a stainless megapot with a HD Rigid brand bi-metal hole saw. Actually cut easier than step bit. I prefer the hole from the step bit / dremel though.

A Rigid brand bi-metal hole saw and Oatey brand thread cutting oil worked like a charm on my megapot. Both from Home Depot. My hole will build up a single drop leak after 15 seconds or so. I think I need a fatter rubber washer.
