    First attempt

Just finished my first mead ferment. 3 quarts honey water, 1 quart apple cider, 1/3 packet of Premier Cuvee. Did not get a violent fermentation, steady and slow. Just racked it to secondary, smelled and tasted wonderful. Going to be hard to let it age!

    Dry Concord Wine

When I used to live in northeastern Ohio, lots of folks had Concord wine grapes. My father and uncles used to make several barrels of a dry Concord wine. The recipe was simple, crush grapes in the skin, let set for a few hours, then press. The juice was added to oak whiskey barrels or food grade...

Cut back on Beer because the belly is too big?

I don't want to sound like "Debby Downer", but be careful guys. Having a beer belly can cause diabetes. And diabetes can cause a whole slew of health problems. I love beer just as much as the rest of you, but had to cut back. Best to nip these problems in the bud before they happen. If you...

What's the worst craft brew (commercial) you've had?

Bought some Cigar City "Florida Cracker". Just does not taste like a Belgian Wit, to me. Or that good in general.

The beer that got you into beer

The first beer I really liked was Duke Ale, which came in little 7 oz bottles, if I remember correctly. Sadly, it is no longer made.

    Me and PBR

PBR does not seem to taste the same here in Florida as it did in Ohio. I used to love PBR up in Ohio, in fact it was my "go to" beer. Down here, I really don't care for it. Miller High Life is now my "go to" commercial.

Should I Brew with 1-2 Year Old Grain?

Probably have enough malted barley and wheat for two batches left. They have been stored in plastic buckets with gaskets on the lids at a constant 74*F. 18-24 months old. Grain smells good, no insects. Should I chance it?

Just thought I'd bump this. Still have something in all kegs, and I just polished off a keg of Cottonmouth, great beer! Hopefully supplies can hold out until cooler weather, not brewing in this 95 degree weather!

    Pbr

I could identify them in a blind test. I know the signature flavor of Bud well, some of my friends only drink that brand. Plain old Miller High Life is my lawnmower beer.

    Pbr

PBR used to be "my beer", back when I lived in Ohio. When I first came down to Florida, I could not find any, in 2004. Then it started appearing everywhere down here. BUT, it tastes nothing like it did in Ohio. It is definitely a different tasting beer down here. I've noticed that the same...

Wife and I finally made it to the Swamphead tasting room, on Thursday night. I've been wanting to try the Cottonmouth for a long time. I was not disappointed. I left with a 32 oz. growler, and now I wished I would have gotten the 1 gallon, instead. Oh, heck, screw the growler, and just get a...

Trying to get a pipeline going...

Just finished filling my last keg a few minutes ago. Pipeline full!:ban: Well, I do have one half full in the kegerator. Maybe I should start another brew, so it is ready to keg, when I get one empty!:mug:

    Wife thought she smelled mold.........

After cleaning the kegerator up, I found the real culprit. 3/16 line on one of the taps did not have a hose clamp on it. Duh!:drunk:
