MW Honey Steam w/ Czech Pils wyeast diacetyl rest question

Thanks for the reply. I won't have access to a Hydrometer for at least a week while it is delivered. Are online calculators that inaccurate? Blast me for not doing my homework and wasting my money!

MW Honey Steam w/ Czech Pils wyeast diacetyl rest question

Hello, I'm on my first lager. I used the MW Honey Steam recipe with Czech Pils wyeast (California Lager yeast was 100+ when it arrived and living 2.5 hrs from closest LHBS really killed my buzz. Don't know why i didn't still check to see if it was viable, but cant change that now.) My...

1 week into fermentation my primary dropped to almost freezing temps

My FG was 1.018 so I went ahead and added the dry hops. When I put the hops into my primary I didn't use a muslin bag and they just sat on top of the beer. Will those hops become saturated and add flavor/smell? By the way the beer is a beautiful rich gold and tastes delicious. All it needs is...

1 week into fermentation my primary dropped to almost freezing temps

So my initial FG was 1.07, I'm at work right now so i can't check the FG at this moment. To be perfectly honest opening it up and checking the FG makes me nervous. I had to dump my first batch because it smelled (and tasted) like rotten eggs. It was a traumatic experience. I know I have to check...

1 week into fermentation my primary dropped to almost freezing temps

So I brewed my second beer a double IPA on Feb 21. Everything was going good and I kept a steady temperature of about 65 degrees for the first week. On the 28th of Feb my wife and I went on vacation for a week. When we got home (6 March) our house was freezing. The power had gone out and we...

Any Home Brew supply stores in Stuttgart Germany?

Ridonkulous, check out their partner websites at http://www.braupartner.de/linksadressen/regionalebraugruppen/index.html . Looks like two of the links are within an hour drive from Graf, Himmelkron and Möhrendorf. One looks to be a very active home brew group. Depending on your Germany you could...

Any Home Brew supply stores in Stuttgart Germany?

So I called today before making the 1.5 hour drive. I talked to a lady, aber mein Deutsch ist schlect. Eventually I figured out she was trying to get my number. So then a guy called me and he said (in English) that I shouldn't come today because he wont be in his office. We then tried to set up...

Any Home Brew supply stores in Stuttgart Germany?

So, I tried to stop at one of the links in brouwland but it was just an industrial park and no sign of the supplier. However, I did come across this website http://www.braupartner.de/ and it actually has directions to and hours of operation on the site. It will be about a 1.5 hr drive from...

A story about my first Batch

So really I never knew how incompetent I was at following directions until I started this batch of beer. Today I poured the priming sugar directly into the bottling bucket without making a solution first and all that sugar sat on the bottom of the bucket. I asked for help and it was suggested to...

First time bottling and screwed up priming sugar

Hello, Today I was bottling my first batch of beer. I made the mistake of pouring the priming sugar dry into the bottling bucket without boiling into a syrup first. For some reason I thought it would all mix together as the beer was siphoned into it. So I bottled all my beer and then looked...

A story about my first Batch

So I decided to start brewing. Problem is I live in Germany and there are no brew stores around here and I don't know anyone who brews. So I just decided to give it a go! I was so pumped! I got a basic kit from midwest brew supplies and a Irish Cream Ale. I've read a lot of palmer, watched...

    Firstpourintoalepale

Not sure if we cooled it below 80 degrees because we had to had luke warm previously boiled water to get the 5 gallon mark. Next time I'll mark by boil pot and fill it before I finish.
