Probably not. All that racking will almost certainly expose your beer to more oxygen than just letting it hang out in the bucket for a week or two, especially since a Mr.Beer keg isn't really an ideal secondary fermenter either. Your original plan should work, just rack carefully. :mug:

You probably don't want to use corn syrup (well, who knows, maybe you do). You might be thinking corn sugar (aka dextrose), which many folks use as a priming agent. It comes in dry form, and can easily be added to each bottle a la the MrBeer directions. If you want to prime the whole batch...

A couple of suggestions for you... 1) Another Mr.Beer Recipe might get you most of the way to what you're looking for. Try the Bengal Tiger IPA, which has lots of hop flavor & aroma, but might not hit the ABV or Bitterness marks that you're looking for. 2) Here are a couple of recipes...

It'll be pretty dang weak. Do yourself a favor, and grab yourself 2 - 4 lbs of amber/dark LME or DME (plus an once or two of hops) to make up the difference. That or go get another couple of cans of BTP from Mr.Beer and do a double batch.

I wouldn't go for more than about 4 weeks in the fermenter, as a general rule. Best policy is to have enough bottles to run your bottling schedule independent of your drinking schedule. Could be. I don't notice a big difference, personally. If you want to give it a try, Booster is about 80% fermentable. It is basically like DME, without any flavor. Here's the breakdown... check the "product information."
