Any tips on force carbing the energy drink mix? I'm going to make a 3 gallon batch in my 5 gallon corny and hook up to CO2. I was thinking of setting at 30 psi, shaking for a few minutes and leaving overnight. Then dial down to serving pressure the next day. Will this method over-carb it? Any...
I'm going to try brewing this recipe soon...sounds delicious!
I'm wondering if I need to do anything special to sanitize the blueberries while juicing them, or is adding the juice at flame out enough to sanitize it? If i do add the juice at flame-out, should I wait a while before chilling the...
I just realized that all of the grains and hops they provide with the Pennsylvania Lager kit are not labeled with the names of the specific ingredients. They only have stickers they say "Pennsylvania Lager Kit". This is probably to prevent people from buying the ingredients individually from...
It's the "Pennsylvania Lager" on this page http://www.annapolishomebrew.com/shoprecipekits103.asp
I will double check the specific ingredients that came with it and get back to you.
With a few ale batches under my belt, I decided to try a lager. Since moving from Philly to California, I miss my Yuengling lager. I found a clone at Annapolis homebrew so I decided that would be a good first lager to try. I will be using my kegerator as my fermentation chamber (I purchased a...
I made a yeast starter for the first time according to the instructions on this post: https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f39/how-make-yeast-starter-pictorial-76101/. After 24 hours, I see no visible signs of activity and it smells pretty bad; not like beer at all. It smells sort of like rotten cider...
I made a yeast starter according to the instructions from the original post. It has been 24 hours since I made the starter and see no yeast activity. I had to have the liquid yeast vial shipped and it was sitting in the heat for a while so I'm wondering if the yeast has gone bad. Or do you think...
I just brewed this up...I accidentally used 1 oz. of Saaz hops instead of 1/2 oz. Oh well. I used 5 medium sized valencia oranges instead of blood oranges because I couldn't find them anywhere. Smells great so far. Can't wait to hook it up to my kegerator.
I was planning on rinsing and sanitizing with star-san anywayson brew day. So I will just rinse a few extra times before sanitizing and hopefully that will do the trick. Thanks!
I have left a solution of oxiclean in my plastic Better Bottle fermentor for about 3 weeks now. Is it OK to just rinse and sanitize before using, or did the prolonged contact with oxiclean ruin it?
Get a small fan to circulate the air. I installed one and it completely got rid of all my frost build-up and brought down the temperature drastically. There are lots of threads on this site discussing how to install one. Good luck!
About how tall and how wide is that 50' x 3/8" chiller? I am planning on building one as well and can only find 3/8" copper coils in lengths of 20' for around $20 or 60' for around $70. I was hoping to get away with the 20' so I don't have to spend the extra money, but I'm trying to get an idea...
I ordered the Asus JC u30jc recently. It's supposed to arrive in a few days. I decided on it because its portable, has great battery life, has very good graphics, and has an hdmi out. Do a search for it and read some reviews. Here is one review-...
I guess there's a reason why nobody else used this method. I was just looking to use equipment I already owned instead of spending more money. I guess its just easier to buy a pump or build a pre-chiller. Thanks for the feedback! :mug:
Ha! That would be awesome. Yes, my kegerator fits two corny kegs.
I guess the concensus is that using a pond pump or wort chiller would be easier then pushing cold water from a keg using CO2, but I'm still not convinced. I have the kegerator and everything set up, so I wouldn't have to spend...
My idea of using the keg was avoid having to build a pre-chiller. I already have everything I need to use the kegerator and keg, so I would be saving money and time on building a pre-chiller. I guess it comes down to using my CO2 versus spending the money on either a prechiller or a pond pump...
If I'm just using tap water, why couldn't I just connect a hose instead of buying a pond pump? The whole idea of this was to chill the water temp before running it through the chiller.
Im planning on building an immersion chiller and had an idea to incorporate my kegerator into the design. I live in a part of Southern California which sees temps over 100 during the summer. With the hottest months coming up, Im not sure if my tap water will be cold enough to cool the wort...
