    I'm pretty sure wheat malt has pectins and you have to boil that in the wort, thats why wheat beers are cloudy. i agree with your technique, just saying the cloudiness in wheat beers is unavoidable as far as I know.

    yes thats exactly what happened. the directions said mash specialty grains at 155 for 30minutes then add powdered malt and the first addition of hops. as soon as the 30 min mash was done I cranked it to full heat and followed directions. i realize i should have waited for it to reach a boil...

    I cant do all grain yet so I switched the 2 row to LME (11.5 lbs) and steeped the specialty grains in a bag. I also retained about 10 grams of the last chinook addition for dry-hopping in secondary (5 days) Looks and smells just like the real deal, I cant wait!
