    Loooong time in secondary

I have a batch still in secondary....lost interest for awhile. It's been there for a few months with whole hops on top. I'll try to bottle it soon, but what are the chances it'll be no good?

    No-Hop Brew

What would an all-grain brew without hops taste like? Too sweet? It's gotta be alot closer to the "original" beer discovered way back when. It wouldn't be nasty, would it? I'm tempted......

    Victory Lager

I tried Stoutd's Gold Lager recently, and tonight, Victory Lager. I've always considered myself an ale guy. I love the hops. I never much liked a malty taste. Since I've been enlightened to the glory of good beer, I've expanded my horizons to include everything I can get my hands on. These...

    Sam75's Brews

The first one I had was the Old Dirty Bird (Old Speckled Hen clone). Don't know how good it was as a clone, but it was a great beer...easy drinking. Then I had the Orange-Corriander Weisse. Very good representation of the style, I think. I liked it alot. Very similar to Hoegaarden Wit...

    Lagering for Dad

Trying to get my girlfriend's dad interested in some of my brew. He's a Coors/Bud guy; doesn't like the good stuff. I want to find a recipe that he'd like, as well as I. He offered me a full-sized fridge (there are two in the garage collecting dust), so I figured I'd try my hand at a lager...

    Ice Beer

Anyone ever think of brewing an "ice beer"? I guess it's really pointless, and difficult. I'm not gonna try it, just curious.

    Stoudt's APA

My first Stoudt's. Love it. I think American Pale's are my favorite. This one may not be as good as Anchor Liberty or Sierra Nevada, but it's very good. I love what they say on the label...something like, "a style which began in the northwest, but was perfected in PA by Stoudt's." And I'm...

    Hoptech Problems?

Anyone have delivery issues with hoptech? Janx, I know you use them. I expected my shipment a week ago, and still nothing. And they don't send an email to track delivery or at least let you know when it's been shipped (or maybe it hasn't been shipped.)

    Dry extract advice from HBS

While I was in Philly visiting family, I stopped in at a local HBS. The guy was telling me that liquid extract is meant to be boiled long, to "break down the sugars", but dry is already "cooked", and not meant for long boils. (long boil will caramalize) Naturally, I was laughing on the inside...

    Simpsons vs Family Guy

Two of the funniest shows ever. I'm a loyal Simpsons lover, so I find it hard to call the Family Guy better, but, man, it's good stuff. My girlfriend votes for Family Guy...I'm torn.

    Magic Hat #9

What's up with this beer? It's got somethin' in it I'm not familiar with. It's pretty good, but I'm wondering what it is exactly?

    Too-Early Yeast Starter

I made a starter with White Labs California Ale yeast and some DME. The next day there's a good, healthy foam on top. Problem is, my HBS was closed, so I had to order some hops online (can't get to my HBS during the week--too far.) So what can I do, if anything, to make sure this starter will...

    Welding

I'm going to get the guys at my local metal shop to weld fittings onto my SS kettles. Is there a special material they should use to keep it food-grade? Are there any undesirable materials? What should I ask them?

    AG Equipment

Alright, guys, I'm gettin' my all-grain on, but I need some help. I've got the kettles, and I think I'm gonna go with the stainless weldless spigots from Morebeer. Now, what else do I need? Something for the mashtun...false bottom? Phil's sparge arm for the sparge? Burners...will one work...
