    Colorado Tons of brew gear

Nobody wanted the whole lot so it's time to part it out. I _REALLY_ don't want to ship this stuff but if you are willing to pay for it then I can give it a shot. - Spare un-cut keg (not pictured): $40 - Pot for heating up your sparge water (looks to be about 4-5 gallons): $10 - Counter flow...

re-pitch on old yeast and bugs?

I had a sour experiment that didn't work out well due to the wort (really poor 2nd runnings from another beer) that was fermented with us-04 and then had dregs from various wild beers poured into it. I've read that it's fine to re-pitch on some of the wild/sour blends you can buy from wyeast and...

    Cider won't start?

wyldewal: I might have to give that a try as a last ditch attempt at saving this, thanks for the info. BWN, I don't have the containers anymore but I'm pretty sure this was just 100% pressed apple juice. I head read on here what to look for so I made sure it didn't have anything added to it...

    Cider won't start?

So I'm stuck here, I have a cider that just won't start fermenting and was hoping the experts might have some ideas :). I previously made a 1 gallon batch that turned out great so I stepped it up to 4 gallons. About a week ago I pitched the packet of S-04 but after a few days nothing was...

    KBS Clone Recipe in Zymurgy!

Curious if anyone using the "bigger" recipe (the one with 15lbs of 2-row) has tried to get another beer out of the grains using a parti-gyle process? Was hoping to do this beer next weekend and was thinking about trying to squeeze something else out of the grains but I'm not really sure it would...

    Castle Rock water?

Just in case anyone cares, the lady I spoke with was very helpful but said that the city doesn't have a report with the data I need, they just do what the government requires which is the water quality report. She did provide me with a number for a local agency that you can send samples to and...

    Castle Rock water?

I did find that but it seems to only have the "bad" stuff in it. It did have some contact info though that I'll use to try and track down a more detailed report.

    Castle Rock water?

Thanks for the info. My issue is that almost every other beer I make seems to be lacking a "backbone", they basically taste like bitter water. I started a thread in the all grain section about it and a few people suggested the water so I might dig into that a bit more...

    Causes for no maltiness?

sounds like i need to get some pH strips :) as for the yeast and malt, i've used various types of yeast, mainly dry but my most recent was wlp001. the malt is usually either maris otter or briess, sometimes colorado malting company.

    Castle Rock water?

Have another thread going about trying to figure out some beer issues and one of the things that has come up is my water profile. I figured before I went to the city I'd see if anyone in the Castle Rock area already had the water profile for our town and if they'd be willing to share it :mug:

    Causes for no maltiness?

Thanks for the ideas guys, I guess I'll just have to play around. I've been wanting to brew a big RIS for next winter but I don't want to risk it being crappy so I'm trying to get everything figured out before I commit to it.

    Causes for no maltiness?

I've been searching around and haven't found anything really that I think can help me with my issue. Last week was probably my 8 or 9th all grain batch but during this time I've run into an issue that is starting to bother me. Every couple of batches turn out lacking "backbone", they taste like...

    favorite breweries in Colorado

My wife and I have been taking tours as often as possible recently as well and here is what we've found: - Avery: the beer is great (probably my favorite local brewery) but the tour is just "meh".I think this is mainly because of the size. The barrel room is cool to see but I'd plan on just...

mess of parts e-herms build help?

So I'm not an electrical guy at all which is why I'm posting here :) I'd like to put together a budget e-herms build so I can brew in the basement year round. I have most of the "hardware" side figured out (most of which I already own) but have not been able to put together a solid idea on how...

IPA recipe to clear out my old hops

First off, thanks everyone for the tips. I actually have a full pound of cascade and a 1/2 pound of simcoe. I don't have to use them all at once of course, but I'd like to use as much as possible while keeping the grain bill pretty cheap. With that much hops I can basically go nuts, just as...

IPA recipe to clear out my old hops

So this is the first recipe I've made from scratch but the goal is to try and clear out some stockpiled simcoe and cascade I got awhile back. I figured I'd try and make an IPA, any thoughts or suggestions are welcome. I kind of just searched around the IPA recipe section and looked at some...

Well I hope you guys are right. I'll pop one in the fridge friday (will be three weeks by then) and leave it until sunday before I test it.

    Re-occurring carbonation issues

Come on now, gotta give me more credit then that! :D The caps do not let any liquid by, gas I can't say for sure. As far as adding the sugar, yes, I'm 100% sure I've added it to all the batches that ended up being flat. Your final statement is what has me worried though. On my first batch...
