"Guilty" confessions of a beer enthusiast

I like a good Budweiser sometimes when I'm looking for a light, neutral lager. Bud Light, however, is pretty much undrinkable.

The reason its hard to save money homebrewing

I have definitely saved money on the beer, but I've probably drank a lot more beer than I would have if I hadn't been brewing. I still like it :)

My ridiculously stupid IPA. Thoughts/jokes/insults/etc. welcome

since you asked for insults--- That looks freaking nasty. Do you chew hop leaves instead of chewing gum or something?

    worst beer you ever made

I've never made a completely undrinkable beer. But I did make a cream ale where I tried to use powdered enzyme in place of barley to convert rice and corn. It didn't really work and it basically tastes really watered down, but it's kind of refreshing in a way.

    Does anyone do this?

I've never burned the wort and never turned the heat off while adding extract. I just stir as I'm adding it.

    Why BIAB?

I just got stuff for BIAB, haven't tried it yet. But my personal reasons are that I want to do some adjunct recipes that require a mash, but I don't want to buy or store any additional equipment. So I'm guessing it will suit me just fine. It's not a baby step... I don't plan on getting any...

    Thoughts on Hoegaarden

Hoegaarden is my favorite wit. It is light years ahead of Blue Moon's swill.

    Belgian Tripel with Honey

There's a belgian ale called "Barbar" that sounds similar, you might look up reviews of it.

I want to make wine from Mountain Dew Throwback

I have made this, and it wasn't bad. (I used reg. Mt. Dew) Brew a small beer, extract would be easiest, with regular hops and all, but with less water. Instead of topping off with water, top off with the Dew. Voila, caffeinated citrus'd beer.

    Lots of old Wine kits

this is awesome. Just ditch the yeast and start making some wine!!!! You can taste/smell the juice first if you think it may have gone bad.

    Are You Saving Money?

If you are brewing big beers or expensive beers like $10+/750mL singles, you will save a good deal of money, even considering time involved. (unless you value your time for $100/hr or so!) Brewing beers that you can buy for $8/sixer? Probably breaking even or losing money. It is a hobby...

Sam Adam's Season Pack ... ehhh

Not a huge fan... they're the smallest of the big guys IMO
