How long can can beer stay in the primary fermenter?

Did anyone ever hear how this beer turned out? Just curious.

    Yeast Starter Carbonated

Yeah, got that yesterday after the replies I got on here sparked some more research and a short physics review to find that it is virtually impossible to carbonate a growler with a rubber stopper and an airlock even if it were plugged. Kinda felt like an idiot for panicking and posting that...

    Yeast Starter Carbonated

Well, I can confirm that the yeast certainly wasn't hurt. This morning when I went to check on my fermentation, it was quite a sight in my bathroom. I had though the beer had already reached high krausen yesterday afternoon, but apparently not. It high krausened it's way all the way into my...

    Yeast Starter Carbonated

Yeah, my first thought was "Holy Christ! I almost created a yeast IED in my fermenting room (spare bathroom)." After that, my thoughts went to whether or not I had damaged my yeast. Yeah, immediately after I had discovered the issue, I started researching and had already decided almost...

    Yeast Starter Carbonated

Last night I made a starter using wheat dme and Wyeast Belgian Witbier yeast for my Belgian White. This morning when I woke up and shook it, the airlock vented off a tone and blew out sanitizer. I was worried so I tasted my starter beer and it is really carbonated. Did I kill my yeast with...

To pitch or not to pitch?

Just put the Trippel in the secondary. Just had to drink my hydrometer sampe and it tasted great! Calculated to 8.66% ABV. Now it's 6 months to bottling time. I can't wait. Gonna do a Belgian White and Harvest Ale in the meantime.

    Goose Island Harvest Ale

Anybody out there? Getting ready to do this one after I do my Belgian White. Any thoughts?

    Goose Island Harvest Ale

I'm trying to take a crack at this brew and wondering if anyone has come up with an extract recipe for it yet. It is quite simply my favorite beer I think. After checking out the Brewmaster's comments on the GI website, I gather that they started with their Honker's Ale as a base and then beef...

To pitch or not to pitch?

I can see right now I'm gonna need a backup primary for times like this. Maybe I'll break out the bucket and do an easy batch. Or I can just use this as an excuse to pick up another 6.5 gallon carboy ;-)

To pitch or not to pitch?

OK, I'll try to relax. It has been in the primary 7 days as of last night. I still catch a bubble once in awhile in the airlock. I'll probably leave it in the primary for another week then rack to secondary. From what I've read lately, it's not uncommon to leave a tripel in the primary for 2...

To pitch or not to pitch?

I recently brewed the Brewer's Best Belgian Tripel Extract Kit. I brewed everything pretty much as directed in the recipe instructions, except I did a full batch boil, adjustin hops accordingly for higher utilization, as well as using different hops than provided with the kit. I used Wyeast...

    Goose Island Harvest Ale

Has anyone come up with an extract recipe for this brew? It's one of my favorites, and I scavenge everywhere for sixers that slipped through the cracks. In season, Target had 12 packs for $11.99 and I'm mad I didn't buy more of it. The brewmaster describes it on their website as a Honker's...

Just Poured My First Home Brew - Belgian Tripel

Yeah, I used Wyeast's 1388 Belgian Strong, but I didn't make a starter, and I'm a little worried, even though they say you don't need to with their "Activators". I just don't know how to know whether or not to pitch more. I've been looking, and all the AHS kits offer double yeast as an option...

Just Poured My First Home Brew - Belgian Tripel

Looks like the Brewer's Best Kit from the recipe...Am I right? I did their Tripel as my first as well and it's sitting in the primary right now. I guess not a good choice for a first if you are impatient. I'm going to get it into a secondary and let it sit for a fair amount of time; then I...
