    pitching on yeast cake

    I am plannning on trying to pitch my next batch directly on the old stout yeast cake for a porter beer. How should I do it? Do I need to clean the krausen from the old fermentation? Do I stir the wort vigorously? Do I use a blow tube?

    gelatin or not

    I brewed a pumkin porter and forced kegged after one month in fermenter. Brew is extremely cloudly. Would gelatin help. Can I add it directly to keg or should I move beer to secondary then add gelatin and set in secondary for how many days? Help

    what went wrong?

    I just kegged my first attempt at pumkin beer in all grain format. It has little spice taste, in fact does not have much beer taste at all. I did not get good sg at final. Any ideas what went wrong and can I do any thing to salvage it.

    pumkin beer?

    I just brewed my first pumkin ale. Forced kegged it last night. Beer taste ok but little to no spice flavor. Is there anything I can do now. Can I let off the co2 and add spices to the keg? Help

    fermentation

    Did my second all grain, a hefe beer. I got good fermentation for about 18 hours after brewing but since then no noticable acitivity. I used liquid yeast that was close to use by date. What should I do if anything?

    Is this bad beer?

    I started to bottle my first all grain batch today, a fat tire clone. When I opened athe fermenter that was a moldy appearing skim on top. I am afraid to keg. Is this mold or bacteria. the beer is clourdy. It fermented for one month. Help

    Question--If you are pitching on yeast cake what about sanitizing issues. How do you clean the krausen from the fermenter before pitching. Are there other sanitizing issues that I should be aware of?

    This will be my first time to pitch on a yeast cake. When I add the wort should I stir the yeast cake into the new wort or just decant onto the top of it. Should I use a blow off tube? What about temp for fermentation?
