Are beer judges this fickel too?

Going from my own experience judging... I judged a Herb,Spice, Vegetable comp a few weekends ago and our first round top beer was a Belgian Sour and I can't remember all that was in it, but it was really good. In retrospect I remember another judge mentioning a slight lemon but it was...

    Upcomming Homebrew Competition

http://competitions.gulfcoastbrewersleague.com/ This is our clubs 2nd annual homebrew competition. Last year in celebration of Mississippi passing it's homebrew bill we only opened the competition to Mississippi AHA members. This allowed us to celebrate Mississippi as well as get our feet wet...

    Mississippi Roll Call

VJ's Autoparts in Biloxi has been selling homebrew stuff for years. Good prices on the little stuff they have, but really nothing for all-grain. If you need carboys are extract stuff it's not a bad place to go. Besides, were else can you get everything to change your oil and some homebrew...

    Kegging, here I come!

For now, with only 2 kegs, just leave the CO2 tank in the fridge and no holes in the fridge. The only thing for the Noob to remember is when the tank is in the fridge the high pressure reading on the regulator is incorrect because the tank is cold.

    Jockey Cooler

Given the space and cost associated with coils of tubing why not get a cold plate and serve more beers? For instance if you wanted to serve 6 beers you are looking a anywhere from 300 to 750 feet of tubing (going off stated lengths above) I'm just guessing at the pricing, but I'd think the...

    McMaster Keg O-Ring List

I'd also like to add an O-Ring to the list. Many of us use the Polysulfone Disconnects by CPC. The O-rings are thin and don't generally hold up well, so for those of you who need to replace them here is that O-Ring from McMaster-Carr. Dash - 016 ID: 5/8" OD: 3/4"...

    McMaster Keg O-Ring List

Thanks for the info... just for safe measure, these are the ones you used? http://www.mcmaster.com/#catalog/119/3478/=m6ci0r It's nice to have a definitive answer on Pin-Lock O-Rings... I have not used my pin lock kegs in 2 years since I dumped 1/2 a keg into the bottom of my fridge!

    Berliner Weiss, many ways

1C - No Boil - No Chill and fermented at room temp for 4 months. OG was 1.032 To explain the No Chill part: I go straight from the mash tun at mash temps into the fermenter. Then bring the carboy inside with sanitized foil over the opening and let is cool to room temp for 24 hours and then...

What Have the Mississippi Homebrewers Been Up Too?

I'll jump in too... I don't get down this far in the forum threads too often. I'm from the Coast and Co-Founder of the Anti-Homebrew Club Gulf Coast Brewers League. LOL I'm on my 2nd/3rd Berliner Weisse after success with the 1st brew. Daybis... what yeast did you use? I have used the White...

    Arkansas 6 Tap Keezer

My apologies! I must have overlooked that! $800 is a tempting price... the additional cost to drive (12 hours each way) to get it puts me out of reach. Good Luck selling it.

Another brew stand - 10 months in the making

Very Nice! The only issue you might run into is the banjo's burning the paint off a little where the attach, but that's minimal! Great Job and I dig the panel!

    Mississippi Roll Call

Still Brewing in the Bay, but Many of us recently resigned from the Hoppy Homebrewers of South Mississippi due to lack of Democracy. We started a new club... Gulf Coast Brewers League. Look us up on Facebook! We have NO meetings, NO Dues, NO by-laws, NO bull****!!! So if you are ever...

Re surfacing a cast iron skillet

I can sadly tell you from personal experience that the cleaning cycle on an oven will 100% make your cast iron look brand new! I accidentally turned on the cleaning cycle and forgot my wife's cast pan that was handed down from her great grandmother... came out of the oven like it was coming out...

Brew stand... giving it a go!

That is just 1 of the valves... I did a panel mount on the front for the ability to control the boil kettle burner easily. I can turn it up and get to a boil quickly, then dial it back to maintain a boil without boil overs or scorching the wort. On my pilot batch I had 7 gallons into the BK...
