    Stainless "Oxygen" Containers

One of the three "Chimney Style" is going on eBay tonight. It will be listed as "stainless steel Dewar flask".

    Stainless "Oxygen" Containers

I apologize to those who sent PM's which went unanswered. Health issues - including 3 months in bed followed by re-hab. Anyway, I still have these 3 conical SS containers for sale. They are all double walled with insulation. Also have an electric 10 gallon home-made brewery with maybe 4 Better...

    Graff (Malty, slightly hopped cider)

OK. I thought that the beauty of this stuff was that it's ready to drink in a matter of weeks - kinda like beer. Still have most of mine left so I'll see how it ages. I did use hops per the original recipe - maybe will leave 'em out in future.

    Graff (Malty, slightly hopped cider)

This may be an acquired taste - I hope the Apfelwein turns out better.

    AHS Noble Pils

OK, and Thanks. I reckon it'll still be drinkable so I'll probably cut it off and bottle next Friday. Onward and upward. :cross:

    AHS Noble Pils

Well, I'm about a week into the "lager" (secondary) and it's kinda hard to hold the temp down. I can manage 45* OK, but it's tough trying to drop to 40*. I have the partial use of two freezers, and I'm rotating frozen bottles to keep 9 liters in the chiller. This will be my first and last...

    Hop strainer?

My next batch will be with the hop pellets loose in the kettle, pump to the top of the cleaned MLT (Rubbermaid 10 gal) with a paint strainer stretched over the opening and hanging down inside. The threads will hold the strainer until the top screws back on - then it's locked in. The second pump...

    Why bleach and sanitize bottles?

I'm a bit leery of trusting those times as shown on that graph. It looks like it is based on a heated liquid - not dry heat. You may need to add a "fudge factor" for dishwasher (or oven) sanitizing. That being said - I just rinse after pouring out the beer, rinse again (Blast) and use Star-San...

    Hop strainer?

If the steam is melting many collars, you'd think someone would start selling BIG (maybe 12" diameter) SS "baskets" - kinda like a round fry basket - but with much tighter mesh. Use the same basic suspension method but allow the basket to have a variable depth to ensure that most of it stays...

    Whirlpooling separate from the BK????

The element is centered about 2.5 inches up the side and is flat, i. e. the wave is most obvious from above. I haven't been using a spoon because I've been afraid of "beating up" the element. Instead, I use the big pump to shoot a jet of wort out just below the surface of the wort. Hmmm...

    Whirlpooling separate from the BK????

I have a doubled and wavy 5500 watt horizontal element in the 15 gallon BK, and whirlpooling just isn't working out. A 4 inch "Tea Ball" doesn't hold in the disintegrated pellets, and they're clogging the plate chiller. Anyone else dealing with this? I thought about buying a 10 gallon AL pot and...

    Best Value in a Refractometer?

Thanks for your help. Bought the 0-32 Brix with ATC on ebay for a little under $30 including shipping. Figured that I could always buy a nicer one if I find that it really cuts down on using that miserable hydrometer.

    Best Value in a Refractometer?

Will 0-20 Brix be sufficient or should I go with 0-32 Brix?

    Best Value in a Refractometer?

I've decided to break down and buy one of these gadgets. Does money equate with quality here? I see that you can spend up to $300 or more - but I don't need the finest available. MoreBeer is running a sale with $15 off their $115 unit - but is it really good? I want ATC, but don't know what else...

    AHS Noble Pils

I bought one of these AG kits a couple of weeks ago, then bought extra hops to make my first 10 gallon batch this week. Anyone else made it yet? The SA Noble Pils is my favorite beer (after SNPA) and I want to do everything possiple to have it turn out well. It will also be my first Lager and my...

    Samuel Adams Noble Pils

Found a 12 pack this week - of which I've saved two for comparison to the AHS NP clone. I'm sure it's the only SA that I really like, and I may have figured out why. Every other SA has a foul after-taste - kinda like a coating that hits the middle and back of the tongue. (Maybe it's the yeast?)...

    TAP-A-DRAFT: first impression...

Me too! Kinda surprised that TAD doesn't see the market potential and bring out it's own adapter...........

    New Herms

Yep -the BK's electric. That silver thing under it is a plate chiller - it looks weird because of the 45's and camlocks.

    New Herms

I finally got this to be functional and it's made two 5 gallon batches so far. Still has an annoying leak in the HLT, but the water is staying off the 4500 watt element, so it heats OK. That black box on top of the HLT hold a stir motor to keep the water moving around the HEX coil inside. The...
