    Several Beers Ago....

Back in 2017 this system was listed on this forum and I pulled the trigger on it on July 4th. I don't remember the name of the member who sold it to me. I do remember spending my holiday driving the 5 hours to Cedar Rapids to retrieve it. It's been quite a work horse for me, and over 30 batches...

    Missouri Cam Lock Fittings 1/2"

I bought a full setup here on this forum in the summer of 2017. These fittings were included, but so were enough tri-clover, which was my preference. Time to let go of them, as I really don't see them in our program. $60 plus shipping takes the whole lot. The tri-clover in the pic are 1 1/2" TC...

    Sweet sorghum

Sorry to dig up an old thread, but I've been reading up on sorghum lately. My first interest was in the sugar from the cane (to make rum), but now also have interest in the malt from the sprouted grain (to make beer). That interest was piqued by a very nice beer that came my way called Bard's...

    Hot Side Aeration/Oxidization

You want to really get paranoid (and I know you do) try reading Noonan! Holey Cow, from what he writes, seems like there is no possible way to make a beer without flaws! Not that there isn't benefit from reading it ;) I've gone over most of it twice now.

Anyone use hot tap water for brewing?

    'Might want to read this.

    Winegasgetter

For me, this is a matter of style. My dry reds and barrel fermented whites are much better without carbonic acid, but pretty much everything else is actually accentuated by a slight spritz. It adds a bit of life to the wines in two ways: displaces 02 so that the wines live longer, and the...

How much volume does a pound of dme take up?

13.38 lbs will increase volume by one gallon. (sorry; not so quick. but for future reference, it's pretty accurate, if not useless for your purposes)

brewers thoughts on home wine quality

That was my assessment 20 years ago when I first started homebrewing. I REALLY like nice wines, but at that time, the wine kits were in cans and just did not produce a quality I cared for. Back then, all I was drinking (wine wise) was big reds. Now I recognize the many different times and...

Dark Mild Mild Mannered Ale (AG) (E) UK/US

Well, I don't want to admit it, but I too altered this recipe a bit. It was all due to the pressure felt as a noob in the middle of the LHBS. Friend says, "Ah, that ain't enough grain... you'll want to boost it." I say, "But, but, they really comment nicely on the web about this." I'm...

    General Arduino Discussion

Have you looked at Weeder Boards? I don't know of one that will do both, but they have at least one each.

    General Arduino Discussion

Damn! Sounds like you know more programming than I ever will. Sorry 'bout the rambling. Again, I don't know enough about the Arduino to say, but a 1-wire adapter, and a relay board would work with any language that can 'speak' with the output port (digitemp does a wonderful job of collecting...

    General Arduino Discussion

Hmmm, the core of a computer *is* a microprocessor, with added interface for both input (keyboard, usb, disk drive, microphone, camera) and output (screen, usb, writable disk drive, speakers). Devices like an Arduino provide an extra layer of input (thermometer, thermocoupler) and output...
