    ProMash Users! Question...

I downloaded the trial version. I am running Window's 7 Professional. I guess if it works on 10, it should run on 7. Did someone buy Promash or are they just out of busines.

Beating a dead horse - gelatin

Unbelievable. Crashed to 35 F for 4 days, added gelatin, and overnight looked clear with the exception of little dots of gelatin in the column. After 2 days, Been doing it "wrong" for 10+ years. This is definitely the way to do it. Instead of 6 weeks before kegging, looks like I can go...

    Keg Force Carbing Methods Illustrated

If you pressure up on the tank for "X" number of days, then release the pressure and wait a couple of hours. Slowly increase the pressure from zero until you hear gas going into the keg. I believe this is the approximate gas pressure the beer has at that time. I usually go 24 hours at...

    Super Agata - problems

Good idea. I was also thinking of using a shim to orient the bottle to the way the capper comes down on a slight angle.

    Super Agata - problems

It is bolted down to a board - thick, heavy, very sturdy board. The vertical post leans forward on the downstroke and seats the bottle cap a little off.

    Super Agata - problems

My capper leans forward when I cap bottles (12 oz.) and makes the bottle cap seat unevenly. Anyone else have this problem ? If so, any fixes ? Considered pushing back on the top of the bar that houses the spring so it would be a true vertical downward motion. Thanks

Beating a dead horse - gelatin

Good thought. I will be able to try in a little over 2 weeks. Will let you know.

Beating a dead horse - gelatin

Thanks. I read that before, but read it more slowly this time and do see where adding the gelatin mixture to super-cold beer works the best. Thanks again for that link - excellent info, and it correlates with what I have been reading lately about adding to cold beer, not "warmish", then...

Beating a dead horse - gelatin

I use 1 gram per gallon of beer in about 350 ml. of water. Boil water in Erlenmeyer flask with stir bar, let it cool down to 150 F, add gelatin and spin on magnetic stirrer for at least 30 minutes. Add to 70 F beer, then crash to 35 F Next brew, will crash beer to 35 F for 2 days, then add...

Beating a dead horse - gelatin

Thanks to all for the responses. Brewing on Monday, and will cold crash to 35F for 2 days, then add gelatin. I also pull a sample in a 12" glass graduated cylinder to monitor how the clarification process is coming along. If I do not dry hop, I do not rack to a brite tank after fermentation...

Beating a dead horse - gelatin

Brewing for 12+ years, and for the last 11 have used gelatin. I add gelatin to 65F beer, then crash to 35F In 6 weeks or so, the beer is brilliant, ready to keg and force carbonate. Reading now many add gelatin to COLD beer, and they say it works faster. Anyone with real-life experience...

    Gelatin - addition to ???

Been 9 days in brite tank with gelatin, and the sample I pulled in a glass graduated cylinder looks extremely clear. Will let go for a total of 14 days, then keg. I think the 6 weeks in the brite tank was not necessary - I believe I just forgot about it and kegged in 6 weeks (thinking...

    Gelatin - addition to ???

I have let in fermenter after crashing/gelatin for 6 weeks and after that time, the beer is brilliant. I have not done any "session" beers, so most of mine are 5++ % alcohol, so I believe the 6 weeks is a benefit due to the higher than average alcohol content.
