Blending fermented out cider with slow wild.

Nope. No spare carboys. The one I have is borrowed from my brother-in-law. I think I'll just blend what I have going. Maybe the wild will help out the Cote des Blancs.

Blending fermented out cider with slow wild.

Yeah, it definitely had a wine taste to it, rather than a cider. But, I wasn't sure if that was because it fermented out or not. I'll cold crash them and rack them to secondary... or maybe rack them and then cold crash them. I'll have to see what order people recommend.

All I need is a urinal to complete me

Just tile around it, and seal the tile really well.

Blending fermented out cider with slow wild.

Currently have 1-Five gallon Cote des Blancs (1.000) 1-One gallon wild (1.050) OG is 1.060 for both (same original cider). I was trying to be patient (as recommended over and over on this forum) and not test my cider early and expose it to oxygen. So, I waited a week to test the Cote des...

Hi from Yreka! (Northern northern CA)

Yup. We're in the middle of a whole lot of nothing, so things tend to cost more. That is probably also why you like driving through here. Scenery is similar to your neck of the woods. But, at least you have Chico near by. Oh, and there is a taqueria in Oroville that is making me salivate just...

All I need is a urinal to complete me

We bought and sold two existing houses before finally building exactly what we wanted. Hence the urinal in the garage. As an aside, the sink next to the urinal was bought used from a guy in Red Bluff, CA who was giving up brewing. I wasn't interested in brewing at the time, but I'm sure glad to...

Hi from Yreka! (Northern northern CA)

Alas, it is Eureka that you are thinking of. Yreka is where I live and it is about a four hour drive inland from there. But, I too love visiting the coast. A friend of ours lives in Eureka and we were just visiting him a couple of weeks ago.

Hi from Yreka! (Northern northern CA)

Yeah, Valero isn't that cheap. I usually go to the USA gas station, which is just off the north exit (there are three exits; north, central (historic), and south. Most tourists go to the south exit because of the fast food. The central exit has non-chain food in the historic buildings. The north...

Hi from Yreka! (Northern northern CA)

Just out of curiosity, where did you stop to eat? I'm betting it was on the south end of town. Black Bear Diner and a bunch of fast food joints seem to be what most people think of when they think of food in Yreka.

Hi from Yreka! (Northern northern CA)

I might do that. We have a really good apiary (Mowat Apiaries) down in the Weed area. This summer they had a melon honey that was unbelievable!

    Hello from Northern California

Yreka. It is about half an hour from the Oregon border. Went to college at Chico State.

All I need is a urinal to complete me

My husband lives with a wife (me), two daughters, a female cat... and he has a urinal in the garage! *LMAO* He has a project Mustang Grande and a welder of unknown amperage. I guess you boys need some boy only stuff somewhere, although I'm the one brewing, not him. However, I have to say that my...

Hi from Yreka! (Northern northern CA)

Hello all. I'm up here in good ol' Yreka, CA. AKA: State of Jefferson. Currently I am making a wild yeast cider and a Cote des Blancs cider from juice from Hunter's Orchards. Hopefully it will be yummy yummy for our Thanksgiving tummies. :cross: Hubby is allergic to wheat (and possibly...

    Brewing in Southern Oregon

I didn't know that there was anything other than Herman's and Black Bird. I'll have to check out Grains Beans & Things. Thanks for this post. We don't have anything down in Yreka.

    Hello from Northern California

Northern California?! Bah! Sacramento is CENTRAL California. Yuba City and up is Northern. Anyway, I'm new to this forum too. Glad to see other people who are at least kindof in the neighborhood on here too. I was worried that it was more of an East Coast forum for a while.

    Strange brew???

I glad I'm not the only having doubts about their cider. I'm currently trying one gallon of wild yeast made from fresh cider. It didn't seem to be doing a whole lot after one week so I checked the SG and it hadn't gone down very much at all from an original 1.060. But, I also had the same...
